Consumer Products Division (CPD)
Title: Category Development & Insights VP
Location: Hudson Yards, NY
Reports to: SVP Commercial Strategy
Key Job Accountabilities
Role Expectations
Develop and own overall CPD category portfolio strategy
Build and maintain true understanding of market and category trends and omni-channel category insights (Hair Care, Hair Color, Skin Care, Cosmetics)
Based on insights and customer knowledge, identify CPD brand growth opportunities and define brand strategies to maximize potential
Relay omni-channel commercial insights into the Management Committee
Upstream influence to Consumer Market Intelligence, International Development and Operational Marketing teams for category information & trends
Communicate, influence and drive the category strategy with all internal stakeholders
Define consistent CPD category guidelines
Define priority products types/products to grow/products to maintain/products to delete for all CPD brands
Ensure alignment between all brands on selling story and opportunities for CPD overall to win offline and online
Identify grey/white space opportunities/ segment & channel for CPD brand/category portfolio
Influence and drive total beauty strategy at accounts and gain market share in every category
Drive long term joint growth account specific strategy with top retailers offline and online for each category
Develop partnership with account leadership to be a trusted resource for beauty
Leverage category insights and selling story for account team and brands
Inspire and lead category development managers to ensure consistent category view
Own and manage platform for knowledge sharing
Communicates commercial/category insights back to brand including best practices offline and online
Leveraging shopper insights at account level through CRM and loyalty data for brand personalization opportunities
The Network you would Work With
Internal: GM, SVP Sales, Brand Category Heads, Brand Business Development Lead, New Channel Lead, eCommerce Channel Lead, Customer Team Lead, International Marketing Development and Category Development Management
External: Customer total beauty head, Customer category head
Essential skills and necessary experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience in a marketing, Category Development or Sales role
Proven experience of landing Range Reviews (RR), retailer strategies and projects
Proven ability to develop sharp insight and build it into action plans to optimize sales and profit
Multi category experience
Shopper insights knowledge
Have achieved a level of influence both internally and externally
Shown ability to have a clear plan and vision for the category and can/have mobilized the internal teams (International Marketing Development, Operational Marketing, Sales, Consumer Market Intelligence) to execute against the plan
Provide clear structure and guidance through recommendations to drive action plans
