Key job accountabilities:


To support the consumer research team in conducting skincare product evaluation studies. Will successfully manage projects from end to end, while reporting into the skincare research specialist.

·         Run ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative market research projects

·         Brief agencies and work closely with them, but also able to conduct own studies

·         Drive and co-ordinate studies.  Provide input and have a critical eye on proposals

·         Ability to understand the key question from labs, and propose design to properly answer it.

·         Moderate focus group discussions (optional)

·         Be the voice of the consumer

·         Be willing to travel into townships and/or rural areas for consumers studies

·         Keep informed on trends and competitor activity across categories and disseminate important information to broader team

·         Keep abreast of research industry evolution and bring best practice and new methodologies to projects



Technical & Professional competencies required:


  • Able to write a brief, deal with suppliers, design discussion guides, appropriate samples/targets for each study, analyse and synthesize all research
  • Able to synthesise reports into actionable summaries with strong recommendations based on business objectives

·         Comfortable with engaging consumers one on one

  • Able to converse with consumers in their own language (vernacular) is an advantage
  • Project management skills are key
  • Good understanding of the Sub-Saharan landscape and consumers
  • Ability to work on numerous projects at the same time
  • Ability to work in project mode, not only study by study: follow up and link studies together, per category.
  • Strong understanding of research methodologies and analysis
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a strong sense of work ethic
  • Ability to work in a team. And to build internal network with evaluation team World Wide, labs as well as marketing teams.
  • Going the extra mile to achieve results (i.e. field work attendance etc.)



Education, Knowledge & Experience

·         Marketing or relevant degree coupled with experience in the research industry

·         At least 2 years’ experience in a qualitative and quantitative research environment

·         Conducted research in Africa

·         Highly computer literate – must have an advanced level of computer literacy

·         Comfortable with delivering presentations
