What are key highlights of this role? 


You will sit within the Legal team, and will play a key role in the development, coordination and implementation of L’Oréal’s Data Protection and Privacy Programme.

 Reporting into the Head of Data Protection, you will work across all business areas including marketing, digital, HR, retail, and security. Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Providing expert advice and support to the business on data protection law, compliance, and best practice, including in relation to data sharing, data transfers, privacy by design, data breaches, data subjects’ rights, digital projects, marketing and security.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements relating to data protection, including outsourcing and data transfer agreements.
  • Reviewing new projects for data protection risks, and assisting with developing appropriate and pragmatic solutions to ensure risks are mitigated and privacy by design principles are incorporated.
  • Assisting with the ongoing development and implementation of a global compliance programme, including data mapping, compliance audits, and privacy impact assessments.
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of data protection-related policies and guidance.
  • Delivering and supporting a training and awareness programme.
  • Keeping up to date with proposed and actual changes in Regulation or guidance, assessing their impact, and advising relevant teams accordingly.
  • Liaising with other teams as required (e.g. Legal colleagues, Information Security, Internal Control, Digital) at both a local and global level.
  • Developing networks and relationships across the L’Oréal Group to ensure knowledge and best practice are shared.

The role will require the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, and therefore you must be able to:

  • Have the confidence and experience to make complex decisions at pace, often when working with senior staff.
  • Digest large amounts of information quickly.
  • Work with a substantial degree of autonomy, and re-prioritise your workload as new questions or projects arise.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, and adopt a flexible style to suit a variety of stakeholders.
  • Build strong networks with, and gain the trust of, colleagues across the business by bringing a confident and solutions-driven approach.


Key qualifications:

  • 2+ PQE qualified lawyer preferred, but candidates with specific privacy-related qualifications or experience will be considered.
  • Substantial experience advising on privacy and data protection in a fast-paced, in-house environment.
  • CIPP/E or similar certification would be beneficial.
  • Digital/technology/FMCG experience preferred.

The role will involve limited national and international travel.
