Director, eCustomer Journey – L’Oréal Luxe Division     

The Director, Digital Strategy role within our Luxury Division of L’Oreal will be the leader of all things strategy within the digital team. The role is part consultative, part leader, and part doer, with the responsibility for strategic initiatives from start to finish.

The Digital Strategy Director will be responsible for working on key strategic initiatives, determining the strategic options available to the group, evaluating the pro’s and con’s of each of those, supporting the group’s leadership team in prioritizing these, and then ensuring the execution of the choices. It is characterized by a high level of ambiguity, constantly evolving relationships with key stakeholders, and regular changes in the scope of work. It will often mean helping with projects that fall outside of the boxes of traditional organizational buckets, or for cross-brand initiatives. The role requires a mix of strategic thinking, influence and negotiation, making risk-weighted decisions, project management, and efficient prioritization. It is also extremely hands-on and demands detail-oriented execution skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning process – help create and support the overall strategic planning process, identify and consider growth opportunities, provide long-term trends/outlook, challenge the group to set ambitious targets and reach them, and to allocate resources efficiently.
  • Leadership support – through key value-added and confidential projects and as a sounding board for key decisions
  • Strategic projects – help get the facts on the table, coming up with strategic options, evaluating options, and recommending the highest potential one to the business
  • Business model innovation – business model innovation and new business incubations through strategic analysis and recommendations
  • Competitive intelligence – use fact-based analysis and market research to monitor competitive activity, spot industry trends, and to understand sources of competitive advantage in digital (as a foundation for clear, differentiated strategy)

Job Requirements:

  • Experience – 8+ years of experience working in relevant areas (strategy, business development, growth, brand management, etc.)
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field required, 
  • Business Acumen – strong business acumen, and rigor to analyze root issues and opportunities, and solid strategic thinking ability
  • Project Management – strong project management and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Passion – a passion for what our company and brands are trying to do in terms of exceeding our customer expectations and delivering an amazing financial outcome
