The Head of HR Operations will be responsible for ensuring we have the necessary mechanisms in place to deliver timely and accurate HR Shared Service (HRSS) delivery across the organisation. Managing the HRSS (ASK HR) and Payroll teams the successful candidate will create an environment where the team is set up for success and each interaction is approached with the objective of perfect execution and delivering excellent customer service. This is a highly proactive and collaborative role where the ability to plan ahead and anticipate challenges will be of key importance.

The role will report to the HR Director for UK & Ireland and be a member of the HR Leadership team.

What are the key duties of this role?

  • Responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management and motivation of the AskHR and Payroll teams.
  • Oversee the AskHR and Payroll teams processing of all employee ‘life-cycle’ events in accordance with Company policies and processes, which will include:
    • On-boarding – contract administration, etc.
    • Promotions, transfers
    • Maternity, paternity leave
    • Flexible working
    • Grievance administration
    • Leaver administration
  • Track and monitor Operational HR customer service levels effectively.
    • Accountable for the operation of the AskHR team providing transactional support to employees and managers across the business.
    • In conjunction with the UKI Payroll Manager accountable for UKI payroll and maintaining records relating to employees.
  • Review team activities and ways of working with the aim of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Primary contact within HRSS for HR Directors and Managers or cross functional stakeholders requiring HRSS support.
  • Regular contact with internal functions not limited to Recruitment, Reward & Pensions, Accounting and Tax to allow for early resource planning on key initiatives.
  • Management of key external relationships such as HRIS vendor.
  • Responsible for the design, development and implementation of UKI HR policies and procedures in line with latest legislation to deliver improvements and efficiencies to meet business needs and UKI compliance. 
  • Accountable for the UKI car fleet administration, compliance and policy development.
  • Responsible for evaluating the future systems and design thinking of operational HR and recommending and implementing proposals.

What key skills are L’Oréal looking for?

  • Previous experience of transactional HR excellence, ideally in a shared service centre or a centre of excellence.
  • Solutions orientated mindset with the ability to work at pace and cope with ambiguity.
  • Strong customer service philosophy.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with experience of building relationships across an organisation.
  • Proven experience in building new operational HR processes, process-improvement and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyse data, draw accurate conclusions and communicate key messages succinctly.
  • Is risk aware and builds contingency into plans.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills – with an ability to appropriately re-prioritise and change as required.
  • The ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience of using SAP, HR Resourcelink  or other HR database preferred but not essential
  • Strong coaching and people development skills.
  • Experience of vendor management and negotiations
