The Technology Incubator
In 2012, the company created its U.S.-based Technology Incubator, a division within the company's Research and Innovation arm dedicated to uncovering disruptive tech innovations. Designed as a startup within L'Oréal, the incubator team partners with entrepreneurs, academic institutions and experts across a diverse array of disciplines to unearth breakthrough research and first-to market technologies. By venturing into the fields of augmented reality, wearables, connected objects, personalized beauty, and 3D bioprinting, L'Oréal is pushing the boundaries of what a beauty company can be and the value we can bring to our consumers and partners.

The Role
This co-op position will play an important role in advancing the mission of L'Oréal's Technology Incubator, acting as a supportive team member to drive forward dynamic initiatives and cross-functional projects. This position will report directly to Assistant Vice President of Communication/Tech Incubator who is responsible for elevating the profile of L'Oréal's Research and Innovation team both internally and externally.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in logistical coordination of events including high-level executive visits, media events and vendor meetings.
  • Assist in the project management process for events and conferences (e.g. CES and SXSW).
  • Research, evaluate and identify key conferences and speaking opportunities, arrange external meetings and other networking opportunities to develop new partner relationships.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting the industry and make appropriate recommendations regarding strategy surrounding them.
  • Assist in the development of external press materials.
  • Help develop communication materials and/or events for L’Oréal employees, working closely with the internal corporate communications team.
  • Help prepare strategic presentations, reports and regular updates to internal constituents.
  • Monitor for competitive activity in the press & social media, as well as events, news, and press relevant to the Technology Incubator.
  • Provide administrative support to the team as needed.

 

Key Job Requirements

  • Current student (Junior/Senior) or Bachelor’s degree Marketing, Communication or a Science related field.  If graduate, no more than ONE (1) year post grads are eligible
  • Advanced writing and editing skills
  • Willingness to work as a member of a team
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, sense of urgency and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
  • Knowledge of design programs, e.g. InDesign, is a plus
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US on an on-going basis.
