What You Will Learn:

L’Oréal USA’s Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability department is looking for a Communications & Engagement Intern to support initiatives that bring L’Oréal for the Future to life through internal and external communications and employee engagement. This role will work closely with the VP of Sustainability Communications & Engagement to implement the function’s communications strategy and will collaborate with key internal stakeholders who manage execution of our programs and initiatives focused on sustainability, philanthropy, human rights and social impact.  In this role, you will achieve success as a communicator by being a “brand journalist”, covering our initiatives and programs and helping our employee audiences better connect and understand our sustainability mission and corporate responsibility objectives. You will have exposure to several communications projects, from planning and editorial exercises to content creation and message development. Your work will support L’Oréal’s major presence on owned and earned stages. But more importantly, you will develop a deep understanding and appreciation for sustainability and corporate responsibility while sharpening your skills as a communicator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and/or project manage the development sustainability-focused content (i.e. articles, photography, video direction/production, interviews with employees, and presentations)
  • Assist in the development of communications and event planning for major corporate events, both internal and external
  • Support the execution of employee engagement strategies, and promote the internal branding of the department through various design projects
  • Research relevant media and news, prepare briefings, reports, memos that ultimately function support the professional community
  • Research potential opportunities for storytelling and stages for our key spokespersons
  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar and maintain the department’s communications calendar
  • Support stakeholder engagement and management with key external groups and partners. Support the management of internal and external communities.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Current or recent graduate-level student, preferably at the Master’s level in either a Communications program or Sustainable Business program. Candidates must have received a Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months OR must have graduated with a Master’s degree within the last 12 months with no gap more than 5 months in education history
  • Strong writing skills, please expect to provide samples
  • Graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Cloud), are preferred, but not require
  • Must be inquisitive, ask questions and bring a learning attitude
  • Community management and organizational skills
  • Must enjoy the art of storytelling and the opportunity to exercise creative muscles
  • Requires strong organization skills and critical thinking
  • Positivity, resourcefulness, teamwork, initiative, thoroughness, reliability, and resilience are key factors to success
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS, Sharepoint)
