Assistant Product Manager – Trade Marketing

Lancôme – L’Oréal Luxe

 

Trade Marketing is incredibly important part of the Lancôme business in the UK and Ireland driving approximately 40% of our Sell-out across the key axes – skincare, make-up and fragrances. Trade marketing is split into two different segments – (1) coffrets and (2) animations, which includes sale packages, spring skincare animation and Christmas.  

 

This role allows marketers to develop a strong knowledge and understanding of all three axes of the beauty business; develop strong commercial awareness and deep understanding of the retail landscape in the UKI; and a robust financial acumen with focus on profitability, gross margins and P&L visibility.

Objectives:

  • Work collaborative with Sales & Marketing team to understand business pressures, trade opportunities and propose/executive the plans for the yearly calendar

  • Develop and implement the trade marketing strategy for Lancôme UKI, including the coffrets & animation offers – ensuring a balance between elements ordered from DMI and developed locally

  • Work closely with finance to ensure trade marketing plans are profitable and maximise ROI for the business

Purpose of the role:

  • Provide reliable, flexible, efficient and organised management of Trade Marketing

  • Own the Trade Marketing, a strategic category for Lancôme (40% of the business)

  • Be the key point of contact in Trade Marketing for UKI

  • Set Forecasting (& set components for local developments), associated PLV/Samples/Testers Forecasting, Subcontractors follow-up, COSO and PPP management

Your key job accountabilities:

 

Creation & management of Trade Marketing Plan

  • Working with Retail and National Accounts Team to create a bespoke trade marketing plan focused on key-commercial periods: Christmas, Mothers ‘day, summer sales, January sales, CNY…

  • Build recommendation and manage development of the sets offer throughout the year:

  • Ensuring recommendation is in line with the brand strategy on each pillar products / category

  • Monitoring sets weight to the right balance

  • Optimizing the mix by identifying opportunities: growing segment or season, retailer specificity…

  • Leading relevant local sets development as a complement to the DMI offer

  • Co-ordinate plan updates for all key strategy retailer meetings

  • Co-ordinate with 3-axes marketing teams on key launches & retailer exclusives, in conjunction with Retail & National Accounts Team

  • Coordinate with e-retail and e-com teams on trade activities

  • Create bespoke PLV / materials to support trade campaigns

  • Participate in retailer meetings with relevant NAM & field teams to ensure smooth progress on trade plans  

  • Weekly track and report Trade performance

  • Constantly analyse market, watch competitors, track trends to optimize Trade strategy and identify business opportunities

  • Monitor COSO and Trade PPP to meet financial targets

 

On-the-job Learning

  • Product development experience, with focus on timelines and strong communication with stakeholders

  • Analytical skills, with strong presentation approach to clearly articulate learning and propose recommendations for the future

  • Regular visits in the field to collect feedback directly from retailers & teams

  • Regular meetings with regional area teams to present relevant activities and provide insight to marketing strategy

Ad hoc Administration (Shared Team Responsibility)

  • PO tracking as per company procedure for relevant projects

  • Legal & Scientific submissions and follow up

  • Feedback to the DMI and the zone

  • Printing of Retail Reports & other documents

  • Co-ordination of meetings & prepping meeting rooms, where applicable

  • Work together as a team to support each other with ad hoc requests
