Job Summary: 

An exceptional opportunity awaits an innovative and strategic Safety Validation Manager within our dynamic Manufacturing organization. Located in Florence, Kentucky, this role is pivotal, offering you the chance to lead the evolution of safety practices at our Manufacturing site, reporting to the Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety.

 

As a strategic Safety Manager, you will spearhead efforts to enhance safety, making a profound impact on our organization's overall performance. Your responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum, including management of Equipment safety validation process for the site.  Also responsible for Risk Assessments for installations and processes within the site.  Influence, advice and guidance to site for interface of processing and packaging lines equipment within the facility.  This will extend to site leadership, employees, and key leaders and client groups across our organization, necessitating robust collaboration both within the L'Oreal network and the industry at large.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Impactful Decision-Making: Make critical decisions that directly influence Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environmental impact, and Morale. Often required to make independent decisions with intermittent involvement from the EHS Director.
  • Safety Enhancement: Continuously identify and execute opportunities to enhance safety throughout the facility, proactively addressing potential hazards and improving safety protocols.
  • Equipment Management System: Develop systematic processes to effectively manage multiple types of equipment in the plant, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
  • Manage Strategic Timelines: Create and implement timelines or schedules to ensure manageable equipment validation processes throughout the year, optimizing equipment performance.
  • Trend Analysis: Conduct in-depth trend analysis of near misses and safety improvement opportunities to identify and address equipment safety gaps, ensuring a safer working environment.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert when safety incidents occur involving equipment malfunction or design, providing valuable insights and solutions.
  • Facilities Project Development: Develop comprehensive scopes of work for various short and long-term facilities projects, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Project Management Excellence: Manage projects from inception to completion, working with contractors/vendors to estimate project work and budgets. Present project justifications to management for approval, and diligently oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Resource Coordination: Secure necessary resources by coordinating with division engineering, operations engineers, supervisors, managers, and employees as required to facilitate successful project completion.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts by providing training to personnel on changes associated with project work and ensuring the proper use of validated equipment, promoting a smooth transition and optimal utilization.

 

 

Required Experience/Training/Competencies:

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental, or a related field; master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience: 5+ years of previous experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated technical expertise in safety standards
  • Auditing Experience: experience supporting audits 
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required and ability to learn internal programs
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene Principles, and Fire Protection Systems.
  • Manipulation Requirements: This position requires constant hand and fine motor manipulations, including handling, reaching, and performing fine motor tasks with hands. It also involves gross motor manipulations related to material handling.

This role requires daily on-site presence supporting 24-hour 7-day week operation with occasional work-from-home flexibility and potential travel to other L’Oréal facilities as needed (up to 15%).
