Job summary

The AVP-Demand Planning will be accountable for forecasting, consumption/shipment planning and retail inventory from a customer-perspective (vs brand based) for the Consumer Products Division.   They will be responsible for building a bottom up customer forecast using intelligence from the field CPFR teams and providing a consensus customer forecast consolidation, to help drive the monthly Sales Planning Cycle for the commercial teams.  They will be the point of contact to the Commercial teams and customer-facing field teams for all forecasting issues and opportunities, and as such, be a SC member on their management committees. They will manage a team, consisting of Demand Planning Managers/Analysts 

Job Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7-10 years with advanced positions in Supply Chain Management
  • 3-5 years of Demand Planning experience, CPFR and people management.
  • Prior experience working Customer’s (or customer facing) Supply Chain highly preferred.
  • Strong PC skills, advanced Excel skills; ability to analyze and manipulate large amounts of data
  • SAP or equivalent experience; web interface, server/data management experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and management skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • In creating a Consensus Forecast, they and their team will Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance to develop an accurate demand forecast for all SKUs by channel and/or customer.  Accountable to provide focus and integration of data from Field Sales, Customer Supply Chain and Finance, which are used to develop accurate and timely forecasts supporting Operations, Sales and Financial Planning.
  • Ensure consistency of forecast assumptions across the Division to align with brand-based consumption and shipment forecasts, including base business trends, promotional plans, new launch volumes, planogram changes and seasonal volume.
  • Link between Customer Supply Chain and brand/sales leadership on consensus-based planning.
  • Provide guidance / oversight of SKU level order forecasts in the short term and family-level over the planning horizon, to ensure alignment with business direction and consistency with market trends. Present reconciliation of sales forecasts to Financial Budget, and quantify gaps to drive a “one-number” forecast.
  • Create Statistical Baseline forecasts. Maximize utilization of existing tools to enable team to focus on exception based value added forecasting.
  • Support customer level forecasting on returns, excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Drive customer level run out of slow movers.
  • Provide insight to brand launch teams around customer demand based ship to trade strategies and drive a customer-centric supply plan with the Customer Supply Chain team.

Required Competencies

  1. Understanding of FMCG business and Supply Chain, Forecasting and Demand Planning, Launch process, consumption and shipment drivers.
  2. Strong PC skills, advanced Excel skills; ability to analyze and manipulate large amounts of data
  3. SAP or equivalent experience preferred
  4. Create and interpret demand, forecast evolution, excess inventory calculations
  5. Strong analytical skills to evaluate root cause analysis as well as tactical crisis management with Customer Supply Chains in the 8-12 week horizon.
  6. Strong communication skills 
  7. Ability to multi-task
