Position Title:       Free Standing Stores Construction Project Manager

               

L’Oreal, the largest cosmetics company in the world, owns and operates many of the world’s leading retail brands, including Urban Decay, Kiehl’s, Lancôme, L’Oreal Paris, and NYX Cosmetics, among many others. L’Oreal is currently creating a central team to support its expanding retail portfolio of over 1,000 free standing stores in the Americas.

 

We are currently seeking a Head of Store Construction to manage the store construction process for Urban Decay, and potentially support other L’Oreal niche brands in their Free Standing stores strategy.

This new position gives the chosen candidate the opportunity to have a lead role in the roll out of our retail / Free Standing stores strategy across the USA, having control on the entire construction process.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

  • Management of all phases of store construction process, from pre-design due diligence through all phases of construction, to completed store turnover and job close-out
  • Main point of contact for the build out of Free Standing stores and all relative departments
  • Point of contact for landlords, responsible for vetting all tenant criteria and mall requirements to Store Design
  • Work hand in hand with the design team and the operations team on defining and rolling out the Free Standing stores Strategy
  • Manages permit expediters and obtains required construction permits and approvals
  • Oversees project scheduling, bidding, capital expenses and purchase order and payment processes.
  • Oversees contractors and external construction managers, ensuring quality of workmanship, service levels and risk management
  • Responsible for improving on current Capex budgets through value engineering, bulk ordering of materials with support from L’Oreal Corporate, and constant vetting of Construction partners and vendors, existing and new
  • Responsible for creating CER’s and follow approval process.
  • Responsible for maintaining each stores construction budget
  • Analyzes costing for fixtures, IT equipment and other design elements
  • Responsible for maintaining construction schedule and planned opening dates for all US Freestanding stores.
  • Advises and manages all exterior contractors and vendors
  • Manages review and sign-off of all DD and CD sets
  • Collaborates effectively across all internal teams, including Finance, Retail Operations, Retail Marketing and Visual Merchandising
  • Identifies pain points in current Construction process and offers new solutions and processes to constantly streamline and improve costs and schedules
  • Does walk through with GC for each location before demo begins
  • Coordinates ordering, tracking, and quality of materials and equipment
  • Manages relations with landlord construction teams and ensures delivery of space by landlord in accordance with lease, code and other applicable requirements
  • Potentially support other brands on their Free Standing stores construction process (20%)

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Travel to all job sites required (30-50% total travel time depending on timing of projects)
  • Excellent knowledge and skill in of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to oversee team members in multiple location
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent project, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented with excelled analytical skills

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

 

·         College degree preferred but not a requirement

·         Experience in construction

·         Design experience welcomed
