The Tax Officer is responsible for the Company’s tax compliance and tax planning. 

The Tax Officer objective is to comply with all necessary tax legislation (except matter under HR management). Tax Officer compiles all required government documents concerning taxes and he/she is the point of contact for dealing with the Tax Authorities regarding Revenue and transactions (Customs matters are under management of Operations).

Key Job Accountabilities

Tax Director contributes to the creation and protection of L’Oréal's assets by advising and guiding the country internal clients in all areas of tax regulations, under the accountability of the Country CFO:

§  Manages the Tax weight of the country/area and ensures tax compliance: tax returns, tax payment, etc. Optimizes tax claims, tax credits, flows (customs duties, withholding taxes)

§  Builds up the tax planning / strategy by anticipating, identifying, evaluating, and monitoring tax risks for the country / area

§  Leads the management and coordination of tax audit, tax litigation

§  Develops “tax intelligence” and monitoring for changes in law / practice (expertise, technical skill, alerts)

§  Communicates efficiently with all Internal Tax networking to alert and raise awareness on risks (CFOs, tax contacts including the Zone and the Group Tax Department)

§  Develops close coordination and cohesion with the Zone and the Group Tax department (Transfer Pricing, M&A, Customs and reportings) for relevant tax files

§  Develops an efficient professional network to defend the Company’s interests and a good working relationship with local tax authorities

§  Recruits, develops, and manages his/her teams.

Amongst his/her missions, Tax Director will be responsible for:

§  Transfer pricing compliance (application of Group policy, update of Transfer pricing documentations, production of Defense files, …)

§  Ensures that taxes, duties, tax provisions are assessed, justified and recorded properly

§  Organize a fiscal and regulatory watch of Benelux tax environment

§  Trains and communicate with all departments (Business, Finance, Legal, Operations, …) on processes and procedures with tax implications

§  Process documentation on operational functions (logistics, marketing, sales) covering relevant tax matters

§  Identify and evaluate tax exposures and make recommendation

§  Monitor and advise on taxation issues for all entities, divisions and operations

§  Recommend on new business issues from tax  perspective

§  Close relationship with Accounting department to set up a tax efficient accounting framework

§  Enable accurate and timely forecasting of the group tax rate and acceleration of tax reporting close

§  Liaising with third party professionals including solicitors, professional associations, other tax advisers

Required Competencies

§  highly qualified, 10/12 years’ experience,

§  fluent in English, French and Dutch

§  experience in an International company or in Tax Services of an International CPA firm

§  well versed with tax law of Belgium and NL, and local Gaap. IFRS is a plus

§  ability to understand quickly operational issues and propose tax efficient solutions

§  ability to lead & work with all levels of staff from other departments

§  ability to convince & implement recommendations

§  networking and facilitator for Benelux management

§  familiar with working within a corporate, commercial (marketing and sales), logistics and manufacturing environment

§  ability to make accurate & understanding reports in tax issues

§  ability to work well under pressure and deliver results

§  working knowledge of ERP, preferably SAP, to enable data extract and reconciliation in collaboration with Accounting and Financial Control teams

Organization

§  Position located in Bruxelles with weekly trips to be planned in Amsterdam (to spend by country to be defined)
