This conviction is reflected in the central role of its Research & Innovation, which deploys its teams around the world to imagine and create the products of tomorrow. The Research and Innovation teams, whose number has increased eight-fold in 20 years, constantly strive to be at the forefront of scientific advances, working in collaboration with the world's leading experts in each field. The results of their work are subject each year to several hundred patent applications and give rise to thousands of formulas. Research and Innovation is today more than 3,800 researchers in thirty disciplines, from basic research to product development through applied research.

We are looking for an analyst to reinforce our Scientific Intelligence team, whose mission is to help anticipate and prepare for the future by tracking scientific and technological advances and by identifying opportunities, competitive threats, and even the weakest signals of change. Part of an international team, you will be connected to operational R&I labs to share insights and build a global vision. You will be exposed to senior management and will help shape long term research orientation and innovation strategies.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor the scientific and innovation landscape worldwide (universities, research institutes, startups, industries…) in diverse scientific fields

  • Identify emerging science and technology with game changing potential for the beauty industry

  • Write short synthesis about these advances to be shared with a large community

  • Prepare strategic analysis of scientific emerging topics, to be presented to the R&I senior management people

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • An advanced degree (minimum Masters level) in science/engineering (preferentially in materials science, hybrid chemistry, bioengineering…)

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in technology watch or competitive intelligence, or equivalent

  • Knowledge and experience of foresight/watch tools and methodologies

We are looking for someone who has more to offer than just a scientific or R&D background. Your profile should reflect an open mind and interest for various technologies outside your field of expertise and for innovation in general. Experience in business strategy or in identifying potential business transformation opportunities would be a plus

 

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Broad vision of science and technology, ability to handle a variety of technical topics beyond one’s direct field of education and experience

  • Very good written and oral communication skills, ability to give presentations to senior executive-level audiences, ability to write synthetic briefs on technical topics, ability to explain complex technical/scientific concepts in non-specialist terms

  • Ability to analyze complex information, make connections to develop a broader picture of an innovation area

  • Works effectively with third parties in a global, matrixed organization, collaborates with all levels of the organization and all types of profiles (scientists and non-scientists)

  • Energetic and autonomous, eager to suggest and test new methodologies and ways of working
