A key strategic role within the L’Oreal R&I organization, reporting to the Senior manager PPM  Skin  in the Shanghai HUB.


  • Strategic inputs to build project ambition and performance evaluation plans

  • Lead evaluation design for all innovation projects for the Skin/Make up category

  • Integrate & plan cross functional programs to deliver strong performance insights

  • Lead communication of key project performance results


Key job responsibilities:

  • To be a strategic partner to Skin  Metier on a global skin program to shape strategy and project ambition

  • To define and lead evaluation plan at an international level and contribute to global evaluation architecture work

  • To partner project leaders to define project briefs, product performance pyramids, consumer targets and key competition for key technology projects

  • To propose robust evaluation plan to provide strong body of evidence for product performance in collaboration with labs, innovation direction/consumer market insights, cross functional PPE expertise teams and worldwide Category Performance Leader (CPL)/Skin Project Performance Manager (PPM) network

  • To maximize technology potential by building a worldwide evaluation plan working closely with Category Performance Leader (CPL)/ Skin PPM network

  • To synthesize and communicate key project performance as representative for Product Performance Evaluation (PPE) at top management and international meetings

  • Anticipate needs and define category evaluation capability development plans working with category general managers and functional capabilities

  • Work with teams to continuously build skin category/product knowledge

  • Help to develop managers and scientists working within the functional teams 

  • Supervise the budget: balancing demand, business-line priorities and resources


  • Several years experience in B to C industries , eg FMCG , including measurement of product performance , especially with consumers

  • Experience of project and/or programme management

  • Good knowledge research: culture, organization and operating procedures

  • Awareness of market developments (bibliographies, benchmarking, patents and internal presentations/technologies)

  • Ability to supervise a portfolio and manage a budget

  • Proficiency in English – written and spoken

  • Strong collaborator and team builder with a cross-discipline team

  • Experience working in an international, multi-cultural environment

  • Deliver clear insights through analyzing multiple/complex data sets


Key skills and Qualifications:

  • Preferred area of study include Psychology, Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written/oral) and organizational skills

  • Strong diplomacy, influencing and leadership skills

  • An understanding of how to excite and motivate across multi-discipline, mostly importantly, with labs

  • Strong communication and analytical skills a must

  • Ability to create aesthetic & succinct powerpoint presentations summarizing project learnings, status and next steps

  • Knowledge of innovation development, market and consumer insights, sensory & instrumental protocols

  • Knowledge and passion in beauty, cosmetic, skincare an advantage

  • Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience in social media analytics, design thinking, visual and motion communication

  • The ability to think globally is essential

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US on an on-going basis
