What we’ll do together:

 As a Patent Paralegal you will manage the L'Oréal USA patent and patent application portfolio within the Research & Innovation Group of the #1 Beauty Company Worldwide! 

What your day will look like:

  • Communicate with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and US and foreign counsel
  • Review and prepare US and PCT patent applications for filing with the USPTO, including IDS, Declarations, Assignments, and Power of Attorney
  • Prepare in-house preliminary drafts or template responses to Office Actions, including claim amendments and other documents
  • Maintaining dockets and managing filing deadlines
  • Update and maintain patent records in our patent management system
  • Generate reports from our patent management system
  • Track inventions and submissions by inventors of invention disclosures and information related to invention disclosures
  • Coordinate and initiate patent application national phase filings, foreign extensions, EP validations, and abandonment processes
  • Work with the US and global Patent and Research groups and with outside counsel on patent-related projects
  • Commit to keeping abreast of changes in PTO and PCT rules and procedures, and able to share knowledge with team members
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years of Patent Paralegal experience
  • 4 year college degree or Patent Paralegal Certificate
  • Experience with U.S. (e.g., PAIR, and EFS-Web), International, and foreign filing and patent information retrieval systems
  • Knowledge of US patent and PCT procedures
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to work independently
  • Knowledge of French language a plus
