AIM OF THE POSITION
The job opening is within the imaging platform of the advanced research division in L’Oréal’s research and development unit under the responsibility of the group leader. The imaging group provides different techniques such as optical coherence tomography, electron- and multiphoton microscopy, Raman-spectroscopy as well as atomic force microscopy to support different research groups working on hair and skin biology and material sciences. We further develop and adopt our imaging techniques to explore new quantitative approaches to characterize the performance of new haircare and skincare products. We are looking for a technician to support our electron microscopy evaluation and Raman spectroscopy evaluation approaches on different substrates (skin, hair and raw materials).
RECRUTEMENT PROFILE
Bachelor degree or “Licence professionell” (Bac +3) in the area of microscopy / biophysics with industrial experience of 3 to 5 years.
Knowledge of electron microscopy techniques and Raman spectroscopy
Knowledge of image analysis programs (Image J, MountainsMap, MatLab or other)
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
The candidates will have as main responsibilities to
Carry out image acquisition using different electron microscopes (SEM, SEM-EDX, ESEM) on different substrates (hair, skin, raw materials)
Carry out image acquisition using Raman spectroscopy on different substrates (hair, skin, raw materials)
Perform sample preparation for electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy experiments
Ensure the proper functioning of the microscopes by following up regular maintenance programs
Be of technical support for the development of new imaging approaches (e.g. automated image acquisition, developing EM on samples under traction)
Be a support for the platform mode of the imaging group (train other users on electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy, plan machine usage times, assure data quality)
OTHER SKILLS
Capacity to work in an international team with people having different backgrounds
Scientific rigor, reliability
Interest in cosmetic research
Open mindedness and intellectual curiosity
