What You Will Do:

We are looking for a chief contracts attorney with exposure to a wide array of commercial transactions and strong leadership and organizational skills to manage contracts and the contracts team at L'Oréal USA, to be based at our headquarters at Hudson Yards in New York City.  Experience with contract management systems and other methods to create efficiency and compliance is a plus.  The attorney will report to the General Counsel and work closely with him, other members of the Legal Department in the US and Paris, executive leaders, partners across the Company and external law firms.


  • Oversight and management of the US legal contracts group, managing several attorneys, paralegals and administrators with an emphasis on the motivation, mentoring and training of the team.  
  • Advise senior management and other business partners on a broad range of business and legal matters that pertain to a consumer products company in the beauty category.  These include but are not limited to research and development, NDAs, collaboration, manufacturing, distribution, broker, supplier, third-party logistics, sales, sampling, purchasing, e-commerce, celebrity and talent, advertising agency, influencers, co-branding, management consulting, auditor, real estate, creditor/bankruptcy, licensing, antitrust, diversion and counterfeits, finance, treasury, general corporate and commercial disputes.  This role requires hands-on, personal involvement and responsibility for certain contracts including review, drafting and negotiation
  • Management and partnership with outside counsel on select projects.
  • Commitment to working and managing in a global matrix with cultural sensitivity, trust, respect, humility, high standards, ethics and integrity toward all internal and external stakeholders.


What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • JD  from a US ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Must be admitted, active and in good standing in NY (this could include obtaining a license to practice in-house based on being a member of the bar of a state outside of New York).
  • Minimum of 15 years of commercial contracting experience gained at a top law firm and/or internal legal department
  • Beauty or consumer goods industry experience is preferred.
  • Well-developed critical and analytical thinking, and strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, and to influence peers and all levels of management.
  • A flexible self-starter with ability to provide high-quality work on a wide range of matters, often in an extremely fast-paced environment.
