Position Accountabilities

The AVP of Media is responsible for driving and executing media strategy across all channels including TV/Video/Streaming, Paid Social, Search, Programmatic, and Retailer Media for the portfolio of brands across the cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and hair color categories. In this role you will be a strategic partner to Marketing to ensure brand and commercial goals are delivered through the most productive and innovative media plans. You will drive enhanced media productivity, more efficient ways of working and best practices that unlock competitive advantage and deliver business results. You will be key connector between our media agency and our network of internal stakeholders on media. This role will dually report to both the CPD VP Media as the divisional media practice lead as well as the President, Maybelline / Garnier / essie for accountability on business results.  

  • Main Point of Contact for agency to drive overall media strategy, connecting brand needs with agency and CDMO resources efficiently. 

 

  • Drive overall CPD annual media planning calendar timelines and deliverables. Guide the media campaign briefing process through media best practices, data informed historical learnings, and manage the overall campaign briefings, presentations, and communications with the teams. 

 

  • Ensure media agency develops strategic and tactical annual media plans that deliver on marketing campaign briefs and goals. Provide strategic thought leadership and support to both marketing and agency teams to ensure brand vision is translated into actionable media plans. Oversight to ensure media strategies grounded in consumer insights, data, and analytics.

 

  • Partner with media agency to clearly define plan goals and KPIs, for each media channel and tactic according to our measurement frameworks. Develop understanding of media KPIS and measurement of successful campaigns and knowledge on how to drive brand strategy from upper funnel to conversion, from national media to retailer activations.

 

  • Strategic oversight of Media plan execution and stewardship, ensuring timelines are met. Responsible for campaign performance and optimizations needed to deliver to goals. Ensure that campaign results and best practices are communicated to all relevant teams to enable success in media activation

 

  • Lead monthly standardized Media meetings to assess national and retailer media performance and ROIs and manage updates with the Agency and key stakeholders. Role requires strong collaboration with brand marketing, commercial, DDX and brand engagement teams to ensure business objectives are met.

 

  • Drive Test and Learn agenda with new media partners to understand opportunities for brand and future proof evolution of media landscape and where we allocate future budget

 

  • Responsible for managing our complex budget tracking system and media spend. Position will regularly partner with finance and manage monthly financial change process (PO approvals).

 

  • Connection and collaboration points with large network of internal L’Oreal media experts allows for continuous upskilling opportunities and best practice sharing to drive business results.

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Management.  MBA preferred, not required
  • 7 – 10+ years relevant industry experience with minimum 5+ years’ experience specifically in both traditional and digital media planning and buying on media agency side
  • Strong and proven track record/performance leading media teams in TV/video, programmatic, search, paid social, retailer media
  • Experience managing a broad portfolio of brands
  • Interest in cosmetics/beauty/fashion fields preferred

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills required. Strong written and verbal storytelling skills. Comfortable presenting to large audiences and senior management
  • Highly collaborative. Track record of working with cross functional groups within an organization 
  • Highly creative with a passion and sensitivity for the design/cosmetics/beauty/fashion fields
  • Must have strong time and project management skills - with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Strong management skills, for use in working with outside agencies and prioritizing workload
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $145,300-$207,000 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
