What You Will Learn:

The Senior Analyst - Benefits Compliance plays a vital role in ensuring the company's compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing employee benefits programs. This position is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis, developing data sets to support compliance activities, and managing documentation in support of the administration of both health and welfare, and retirement benefit plans. This role collaborates closely with HR Shared Services teams (Data Analytics, Benefits, Payroll), Legal, and external vendors.

 

  • Ensures Benefits Compliance:
    1. Health & Welfare: Monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory changes impacting health & welfare plans (e.g., ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, state and local leaves). Prepares data sets to support required filings (e.g., Forms 5500, 1095-C), plan valuation (FAS 106) and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) non-discrimination testing. Oversees required notices and disclosures. Conducts compliance reviews and implements corrective actions.
    2. Retirement: Monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory changes impacting retirement plans (e.g., ERISA, IRS regulations). Coordinates required non-discrimination testing (ADP/ACP, 410(b) coverage testing) and other compliance checks. Oversees 5500 filings and other required reporting.
  • Manages Benefits Documentation and Data:
    1. Maintains accurate records of plan documents, amendments, and compliance testing results.
    2. Supports the development and maintenance of benefits policies and procedures.
    3. Works with Shared Services team to analyze output of ongoing benefits deduction audits to identify trends and potential compliance issues.
    4. Will support in census development leveraging third-party benefits platforms for benefit cost projections, compliance activities and annual benchmarking survey completion.

 

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in employee benefits compliance and analysis. Experience with both health & welfare and retirement plans required.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Data Management: Understanding of database structures, data types, and data integrity principles. Ability to extract, transform, and combine data from various sources.
  • Data Manipulation & Analysis: Proficiency in Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, macros)
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to identify patterns, anomalies, and insights within large datasets. Skill in formulating hypotheses, testing assumptions, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to break down complex problems into smaller components, analyze data to identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Power BI

Additional Benefits Information As Follows:

Salary Range: $77,000-110,000 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
