Performance at the core

L’Oréal 20-50-100 digital strategy is measured through a Digital Performance Cockpit, which outlines performance for the different facets of the business.  100% Love Brand – how the Group is performing on Owned site audiences, Share of organic and paid search, Share of Owned Social, Share of Earned Media.  50% Direct Relationship with Consumers : how we perform in the Precision Advertising space, from the quality of targeting to the ROI of campaigns, the productivity of our Identified Consumers Databases.  20% e-commerce: Growth vs. Market, Direct vs. Indirect growth, Channels performance, Share of e-Merchandising visibility, leading to Market share evolution.


Analytics Performance journey initiated

The first Digital Performance Cockpits have been launched in 2015 and share across the organization with Top 200 Executives exposed.  The Digital Performance team supports 20+ Countries & 20+ Brands for their Top Management visits, with reports production, data analysis and strategic business recommendations. Cockpits automation has been kick-started in 2016, and the next step is to fully automatize the 20-50-100 Digital Performance measurement to allow integration in all business meetings, and allow Digital Performance team to focus on value-added business recommendations and coaching to enhance business performance across the organization, changing mindsets to “Data Driven Decision Making”.


Building the Marketing Data Factory

Digital Cockpit is now opened to 3500 users, targeting 5000 users in 12 months and transitioning from a Digital Cockpit to a Marketing Cockpit in the digital age.

Cockpit is the visible output of a Marketing Data Factory, processing data from raw inputs to business outputs, foundations being a sustainable & scalable platform, ensuring the following steps:

1) clear assessment of raw data inputs (sourcing / accuracy / quality)

2) alignment to internal master data management

3) set up of data injection & sustainability of storage (keep history)

4) data processing: development & ETL to deliver output datasets (from new sources or thru data crossing of existing sources) for cockpit product & for data science lab

5) creating output product: data visualization (out of the box & custom developments) adapted to roles & scope, offering self BI capabilities

 6) monitoring tool usage & offering training to drive adoption

Data Factory is co-built by 3 sub-teams within the organization

We are recruiting a Technical Director to manage the Data Platform & Viz team 


Technical Team management

  • Own or contribute to each step of the data factory process:
  • CONTRIBUTE - Translate business specifications into technical specifications > co-define the data exchange interface of new/updates sources – teamwork with Cockpit Product Team
  • CONTRIBUTE - MDM related > technical aspect of MDM in steps 3&4 (dev of ‘’DEM’’ our referencial sub-system, mapping of referential in data flows)
  • OWN - Set up of data injection & sustainability of storage (keep history)
  • OWN - data processing: development & ETL to deliver output datasets (from new sources or thru data crossing of existing sources) for cockpit product & for data science lab
  • MDM in step 3 & 4) ensure within data processing that disconnects vs. master data management are identified & addressed
  • CO-OWN - Provide all needed deliverables & teamwork with Product team >  datasets delivery to check with Product then co-design of viz with Product
  • CONTRIBUTE - Provide all needed deliverables to Run team for monitoring the new/updated dataflows/datasets
  • Understand all technical aspects of the platform (“DEM / DEM sync” from internal developments / DOMO SAAS platform / DOMO Global instance current set up, dataflows / Global – Local framework / L’Oreal IT interconnections) & provide proposals to updates / be able to challenge any technical related aspect
  • Monitor backlog & Organize team activity using Agile methodology & tools (Team: developpers expert/specialists & ETL expert/specialists) based on roadmap priorities / technical complexity & last minutes priorities
  • Ensure a pro-active communication on all technical topics in the backlog to your manager, anticipating impacts of changes in the technical environment
  • Lead initiatives ensuring sustainability & scalability of the platform: Define process/guidelines to be followed in daily job & ensure a full clean-up of As Is, removing old dataflows/datasets/un-used developments
  • Challenge our SAAS partner DOMO: share on technical requirements, follow up on regular basis with Product team, demonstrate our uses cases & organize co-design workshop, escalate critical topics
  • Bring the ‘’Editors Community’’ (from local team) to Data Factory grade mode:
    • Improve existing Custom Development Framework to allow local developments and Data Governance within that Framework
    • Constantly monitor local best practices that might feed global developments, and deviations from Global Framework to provide guidance to markets to get back on track
  • Ensure technology watch of data & AI cloud solutions for future developments
  • Be the interface for Security audits, ensuring data quality of deliverables & corresponding documentation 
  • Be the interface for:
    • IT teams (global & zones when needed) for data in/out topics and platforms interoperability (Domo into group data platforms and vice versa)
    • Data science team – in/out topics – for industrialization of AI outputs
    • Google/Facebook/marketing technology partners (ex.Traackr) for tech discussions – understanding & anticipating the impacts of API change

Background

  • Strong experience of IT project management
  • Technical expertise/experience : 
    • Business intelligence integration (Tableau, QlikView, DOMO)
    • String ETL skills (MySQL, Amazon Redshift or Talend experience)
    • object-oriented software development
    • software development using Python (Flask) and/or Java
    • integration/API protocols and data formats (REST, JSON,  OAuth 2.0)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong communication & change management skills
