More than 490 patents were registered in 2015. Our workforce consists of 3800 employees, representing about sixty nationalities and thirty different scientific backgrounds (chemistry, physics, biology, dermatology, optics, rheology, IT, statistics, analysis, etc.).

 

The candidate will be responsible for carrying out and for proposing scientific research projects and collaborations based on atomic force microscopy (AFM) on cosmetic substrates such as skin, hair and different cosmetic materials.  He will develop and implement new AFM approaches to quantify the surface properties and the mechanical properties of hair and skin and their constituents in physiological conditions. He will play a supportive role to evaluate in close collaboration with the teams from the biology and chemistry departments the performance of new raw-materials developed for haircare and skincare products.

WHO ARE YOU ?

  • MSc +PhD or Engineer + PhD, Postdoc or 2-3 years of industrial experience in research & development would be a plus
  • Specialist in atomic force microscopy for the quantification of mechanical substrate properties, surface adhesion properties and imaging. 
  • Experience in the fields of biophysics, / biomechanics / material science and different imaging techniques. 
  • Expertise on physico-chemistry and tribology of interfaces (and related techniques such as SPR, SFA, ellipsometry) would be a plus
  • Knowledge of biological samples (from cellular to tissue scale)
  • Knowledge of cell culture techniques would be a plus
  • Skills for working in a team within an international and multidisciplinary environment
  • Interest for cosmetic science (biophysics on skin, hair and cosmetic materials)     
  • Atomic force microscopy for imaging and biomechanical quantification (tribology, nano indentation, adhesion properties, mechanical quantification of biological substrates)
  • Knowledge on biological substrates such as cells, skin tissue, reconstituted in-vitro systems or hair
  • Experience within the domain of biophysics
  • Good skills in data and image analysis (using MatLab, Origin or similar software)
  • Good communication/reporting skills in English
  • Capacity to work in a team with people having very different backgrounds (chemistry, physics, physico-chemistry , biology, evaluation  and formulation)
  • Ability to design, build and manage scientific projects in close collaboration with internal and external partners 
  • Ability to build and maintain a network and to federate people around projects
