Job Title Manager – Senior Data Scientist

What You Will Learn:

L’Oréal is looking for a talented and experienced Data Scientist that is proud of and passionate. You love research and are up to date on all the latest advancements in Data visualization and Analytics, machine learning, design of experiments, regression predictive modellings (physico-chemistry, sensory, consumer, etc.,), clinical studies methodologies, and care about seeing your research make it into products.

You are resourceful, self-motivated and pride yourself on your creativity and ability to design elegant solutions to challenging situations.

You communicate well, love working as part of a team, and animate a community of data citizen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in L’Oréal Research worldwide activities for innovative methods and applications in the field of clinical, sensory, consumer, physico-chemistry and raw materials. Work on a variety of projects in the domain of skin care, make-up, hair.
  • Lead global projects in data science and contribute to the global strategy
  • Provide leadership in data science thinking in all aspect of R&I, including guidance on statistical methods, study designs. Contribute to decision making, interpret statistical results in a clear and clean way to help project leaders make decisions.
  • Actively promote the use of data visualization and analytics field by leading a community of data analyst citizens.
  • Deeply understand USA digital ecosystem:
    • Transfer and adapt to local needs algorithms and tools developed by worldwide data science teams
    • Identify and develop data science opportunities for US consumers and researchers
  • Independently apply and implement basic and complex statistical technics to help turning data into information, support results interpretation.
  • Work along with data science worldwide team to get harmonized and standardized processes.
  • Lead of good practices of tools implementation, aligned with global team
  • Share the knowledge and concerns with data science team during regular meetings for the exchange and collaborative interaction
  • Ensure the statistical methods and analyses provided to R&I teams are high quality, reliable and relevant in relation to latest developments

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Maters with 3-6 years’ experience or PhD with 1-2 years of experience in data science or in a scientific field with a strong statistical content
  • Experience in Machine Learning or AI
  • At least 3-6 years of relevant experience working as a data scientist / statistician within analytics consultancy / pharmaceutical industry / Machine Learning / AI experience
  • Hands on experience with R / Python with development of standalone packages which can be published on the IT enabled platforms.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills, ability to tackle challenging situations and produce stepwise solutions
  • Experience with a broad range of statistical / computation methods (exploratory and inferential statistics / statistical modelling)
  • Experience in design of experiments and clinical studies
  • Well-versed in confirmatory analysis: mixed models, logistical and longitudinal models, survival analysis, statistical tests (parametric and non-parametric)
  • Additional skills in Bayesian analysis
  • Must be eligible to work in the US on an ongoing and continuous basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
