Job Description – National Account Manager – OTC (other than chain)

Reports to: Assistant Vice-President - OTC

Qualifications, Education, Experience & Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 plus years experience in a Sales Management position in the Consumer Products industry
    • Multicultural Hair Care sales, marketing, and/or analytical experience a plus
    • Experience managing Distributors a plus

Requirements:

  • Position is home-office based with the ability to travel overnight and visit various market areas (ranging from 40% to 50%)
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Willing to relocate for future potential advancement opportunities
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and safe driving record

The NAM facilitates the management of Multi Cultural Beauty (MCB) within the OTC  class of trade for Carol’s Daughter and SoftSheen-Carson in the following ways:

 Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Achieve sales objectives and manages all aspects of account P&L in terms of fuel, returns, display support, as part of a team in our OTC Accounts
  • Develops and executes collaborative Business Development plans to achieve division and account sales objectives
  • Working across functions in formal and informal teams to analyze, plan, influence, and implement decisions and plans with Target
  • Builds and submit accurate sales forecasts including basic, promotional, display volume, returns, and markdown expenses
  • Plans, organizes, and delivers presentations that demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of business
  • Facilitates account meetings and demonstrates interpersonal skills during the meeting, while maintaining flexibility and adaptability of the customer’s position, level and needs
  • Develops and maintains high visibility and influence with accounts’ key decision makers and decision influencers to advance business opportunities within account
  • Utilizes all Sales and Marketing data as well as syndicated data such as Nielsen and Consumer Research to achieve brand strategies as it relates to pricing, promotion, distribution and space management
  • Provides accurate and timely crucial market, trade and competitive information to Sales management

Competencies Required Technical / Professional:

  • Business Acumen –in depth knowledge of business objectives, category, retail dynamics, competitors, market trends and consumers
  • Data Analysis –Evaluates data to assess business implication and make sound recommendations
  • Financial Knowledge –working knowledge of Financial P&L management and Trade Math
  • Creative –Ability to stimulate collaboration internally and externally to develop creative solutions to complex problems
  • Conflict Management –Work with accounts and internal teams to achieve sometimes conflicting or controversial objectives.
  • Project and Time Management Skills –able to manage multiple projects, and able to refocus priorities as the business dictates in a timely manner
  • Efficient Computer Skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Requires effective interpersonal skills, organizational and analytical ability
