The L’Oréal Tech Incubator (Augmented Beauty group) is looking for a passionate and entrepreneurial Product Manager to be a part of the technical transformation of the beauty industry.

 

The Product Manager is responsible for creating new products and services from conception to initial launch across digital, phygital, and hardware spaces. This role will be based out of El Segundo, CA, and will focus on developing diagnostic tools, analytical algorithms, recommendation engines, and products powered by an innovative application of data science techniques.

 

Reporting into the ‘Tech Acceleration’ team within Augmented Beauty, you will partner with external design agencies,

software developers, and engineering firms, while leveraging our internal experts, brands, and labs to create new products.

 

The ideal candidate has a background in engineering (mechanical, systems, electrical, or similar) and experience in data science, software development, and project management. You will be required to be innovative, a strategic thinker, result-oriented, and customer-obsessed.  You will also be required to have deep understanding of user interface and user experience in both hardware and software. 

 

Position requires occasional domestic and international travel (25%)


You Will . . .

  • Contribute to product strategy, specifications, and customer experience definition. Conduct voice of customer research to understand the needs and trends of the market.
  • Write marketing requirement documentation/specification (MRD) with deep understanding of user interface and user experience, as well as the target market. Create product requirement document/specification (PRD), which includes all the technical requirements together with the project managers and engineering team.
  • Create and own project development plan, manage various development workstreams be responsible for deliverables and timeline.
  • Collect data from existing data sets, by analyzing results, or by executing new studies. Searching through large data sets for usable information and transfer data into new formats to make it more appropriate for analysis. 
  • Support the development of machine learning or logic-driven algorithms based on collected data sets.
  • Understand and input into design of technical architecture, create architecture diagrams, and ensure compatibility with IT ecosystems and software. 
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals

You Have. . .

  • 5+ years of experience in product management or technical project management
  • BS/MS in engineering
  • Experience in Data Science, Consumer Products, Medical devices, Software Development, or other consumer-facing and/or highly technical industries preferred
  • Experience with end to end product delivery and product lifecycle management
  • Experience in creating business case/plan for technology products, including roadmaps, strategy, and definition
  • An understanding of technology, engineering, and design capabilities
  • Excellent presentation skills, including slide deck creation, and verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to documenting design activities throughout the development process
  • Strong attention to detail and have critical thinking capabilities
  • Authorization to work in the US on a permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
