In our newly redesigned organization, the role of Application Domain is to design and develop disruptive formulations of technologies that will address future consumer needs and transform the beauty industry in more sustainable and futuristic ways. The function is responsible for developing formulations, novel formats and product design prototypes that will give superior hair care and styling experience for consumers and professional stylists. As a Global organization, the Hair Styling Application Domain operates from many countries including France, and L’Oréal USA is embedded in various global strategic projects and leads many of them. A key measure of success for the Domain is to create high performing formulations & prototypes that are protected by strong, strategic and holistic intellectual property & meets the group vision for a sustainable future. Working closely with cross functional teams, this position requires high technical skills as well as a strong attitude for working in multi-expertise, multi-cultural teams with agility. This key technical position will allow one to express oneself with in the entrepreneurial culture of the L’Oréal group and be part of the creation of beauty of the future.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Senior Scientist II to onboard on this thrilling adventure in our Clark, New Jersey facility.

You Will . . .

• Develop technically robust solutions with ability to create breakthrough product innovations; 
• Work closely with managers/chemists/support groups to coordinate the implementation of hair style projects;
• Have the ability to work in a matrix organization and function in a team consensus environment with local R&I and International Teams;
• Work closely with Innovative Raw Materials Department, suppliers, universities, research institutes to identify new raw materials & technologies with potential benefits for cosmetics applications;
• Drive projects from inception to completion with quality, timeliness, and professionalism;
• Manage multiple complex projects and coordinate efforts to meet timelines;
• Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in proactively identifying and proposing solutions to issues that may arise during product development or in transfer to manufacturing.

 You Have . . .

• PhD or Masters + 3 years of experience in relevant discipline; Chemistry, Biology, Material Sciences, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering or related fields;
• Excellent project management, problem solving, and communication skills;
• Expertise in synthetic chemistry (organic or inorganic), understanding surface-interface properties and surface characterization, and/or polymer chemistry.
• Experience in different industries (biomedical/bio-sensing, medical, space exploration, food packaging, coatings/additives, textile, etc.) is a plus;
• Experience in Design of Experience is a plus;
• Experience and understanding of formulation of surfactant and polymer systems;
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to share and teach in the area of expertise
• Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
