AVP Retail Operations

 

Summary of Key Job Accountabilities

The AVP Retail Operations provides leadership and oversight of all free standing store operational responsibilities to develop and execute daily operations, inventory management, cash control and adherence to all company guidelines and procedures. Strong focus on flawless execution of new store openings and evolution of best practices.  Develop strategies to improve operating standards for all systems and vendor management.  Participate in all expense planning and control activities to identify opportunities and implement practices to improve expense control, payroll control and productivity.

 

 

Key Business and People Objectives

  • Spearhead the creation and implementation of freestanding retail store operations to deliver to our customers a seamless shopping experience within all NYX Professional Makeup stores
  • Partner closely with the SVP retail to develop retail business plans
  • Act as a catalyst for change to build the retail culture and set the standard for operational excellence for NYX Professional Makeup. Share and teach best practices for operating a freestanding store retail business
  • Responsible for directing all operating strategies for new store openings and existing stores
  • Develop and maintain strong cross functional relationships within the NYX team and L’Oreal
  • Ensure stores are in compliance with internal audit, cash control, store inventory, purchasing and P&P guidelines
  • Create tools to diagnose business needs and trends that will assist in maximizing bottom line.
  • Oversee inventory management including receiving and cycle counts
  • Develop, implement and monitor operating policies, procedures and standards to ensure stores are operating in accordance with best practices
  • Partner with finance in payroll modeling and sales planning to optimize labor hours to increase productivity, impact sales results and profitability
  • Manage Loss Prevention process including audits, training and programs
  • Partner with finance to create field and store level budgets and closely monitor results
  • Work in partnership with supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels and replenishment
  • Recommend and implement programs that improve processes and/or reduce expenses
  • Continuously train and update store on any system updates, upgrades and enhancements
  • Manage ordering and allocation of non-sellable store materials (i.e. shopping bags, gift boxes, samples, etc.) and manage logistics of these items
  • Evaluate all new vendors and continuously seek new vendor partnerships
  • Benchmark against competitors, incorporating strategies that will enhance the customer experience, optimize profitability and reinforce the overall brand identity

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 8-10 years of retail experience; preferably within beauty, apparel or consumer products industry
  •  

  • Experience in launching and opening retail stores
  • Expert level of knowledge around retail policy and procedure, retail analytical tools, and managing a retail operations team
  • Knowledge of the retail store environment – customer experience, POS, inventory, loss prevention and selling programs
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel – pivot tables/ v-lookups/etc., Word, Internet)
