L’Oréal's Research and Innovation division employs more than 4,000 people across 5 hubs (United States, Japan, China, India and Brazil) with a world center in France, 18 research centers and 16 evaluation centers around the world. Working in some thirty disciplines, more than half of these employees are doctors or engineers, and they are responsible for 497 patents registered in 2015.

The business development department of L’Oreal Research and Innovation Division is responsible for the sourcing, strategy development and securing of strategic business relationships with external scientific and technological partners (Start-ups / Universities with a focus on Biotechnology, Biology, Digital Cosmetics, Biophysics) to support L’Oreal’s Open Innovation strategy.

Principal Accountabilities :

The candidate will support the Business Development team in the negotiations preparations of projects focused initially on Europe as key markets. The candidate will work closely with internal scientific, legal and industrial property teams and departments to gather information and participate to the elaboration of the appropriate business engagement.

This role will combine a candidate’s ability in the external development of cutting edge technology in the biological, chemical or physical sciences with keen knowledge of intellectual property, business strategy, and corporate finance to create impactful external collaboration projects.

A solid understanding of industry dynamics, R&D and key public entities and players across Europe and/or experience in sourcing, evaluating and investing in technology startup companies will be significant added advantages.

The candidate will need to demonstrate financial knowledge, bottom-line orientation, an ability to develop industry networks as well as origination capability.

Key Requirements :

  • PhD in biological, chemical or physical sciences / Master in Management from international business program
  • Knowledge in Business Development/ Tech Transfer
  • Analytical/problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English and French
