We are looking for a Category Buyer for the Corporate Division with relevant experience of 5 - 10 years in Indirect Procurement. In this individual contributor role you have to supervise the category and business in line with the Group’s purchasing strategies and policies, analyse business needs and provide solution under challenging conditions, optimizes costs, creates value and innovate, evaluates and manages risks and performance. The location of the job will be in Mumbai and preferably candidates from the industry of Consumer goods, FMCG and Retail will be given preference.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Marketing and Merchandising team to procure Retail fixtures / Point of Sales (POS) / Point of Purchase (POP) material / marketing services, etc. to support the Sales and Marketing strategy

  • Defining purchasing strategy: Define in-depth category strategy along with the best suited supplier portfolio (for a division or a category), develop market intelligence tool on categories, drive changes in the market structure. Input, build and challenge category strategies

  • Empanelment of suppliers, reviewing commercial agreements, contract management and managing supplier relationships

  • Challenge, improve or develop a long term vision of the supplier portfolio strategy. Conduct improvement projects with strategic suppliers. Identify the suppliers bringing innovation

  • Facilitate creative input to enable cost reduction and improvement of overall productivity

  • Segment the purchasing domains and define the purchasing policy for the category (Point of Sale / Point of Purchase / Promo / Marketing services : excludes factory and media for the time being) 

  • Check that the category purchasing complies with the purchasing process defined in the Group’s regulations and Ethics Charter

  • Watch that the suppliers fulfil the criteria defined in agreement with the Group & procurement policy

  • Design, schedule and coordinate the evaluation of the suppliers performance

  • Reporting of purchasing Key Performance Indicator (KPI’s) to the ZONE team

  • Choose and run value analysis plans with key internal stakeholders

  • Participate and potentially drive  inter-division work teams for common studies and actions( standardization)

  • Internal customer satisfaction is a must

Professional Experience:

  • Must have knowledge on Point of sales material like permanent displays (Wall units / retail projects / shop in shop design / retail counters etc.) and temp display (FSU / CTU / Table top / glorifier / tent card / parasites etc.)
  • Must have knowledge of Offset and Digital printing

  • Experience on sourcing for various marketing services such as design creation, creative agencies, sales animation etc

  • Thorough knowledge on procurement process, aggressive negotiation skills, understanding of Contracting Terms, worked on SAP / ERP will be preferred

  • A plus : Marketing or retail experience including  creative, media and digital

  • Is able to see big picture as well as understand and effect change to detail and communicate effectively. Capable of taking decisions independently and prioritizes own work
  • Activates internal and external networks to leverage departmental and functional synergies

  • Internal Stakeholders – Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance and Operations teams

  • External Stakeholders – Vendors and Suppliers

Physical Demands (e.g. % travel):

  • Should be ready to travel at least 7-8 days in a month, cross-country. 30-40% of time in the field. 60-70% in the office
