JOB DESCRIPTION

MANAGER – Global Product Development

 

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT – Manages all aspect of New Product Development and product maintenance:

•Manages product development cycle of new formula and shade development from concept to launch

∙Recommends formula and shade prototypes and issues formal briefs to R&I and Vendors

∙Manage Formula Evaluation; track and evaluate all internal and external formula submissions, providing assessment and redirection where needed

∙Works with International Business Development to ensure global and market specific product/shade needs are being met

                ∙Provides formula and shade direction to R&I and third party vendors

                ∙Partners with R&I and Vendors on final lab and production standards

                ∙Manages both formula and shade stability with R&I and Vendors

                ∙Manages package compatibility testing

∙Partner with key cross-functional teams (R&I, Claims & Legal) on desired formula claims

•Product Maintenance:

∙Oversees necessary reformulations and shade translations, due to regulatory updates

∙Partner with IBD on market specific planogram needs

 

COMPETITIVE:

•Oversees market and competitive analysis to identify gaps and white space opportunities from both a formula and shade standpoint

 

CONSUMER TESTING:

• Manages new formula testing:

                ∙Oversees Tech Ctr Testing/Consumer Panel and key findings

                ∙Partners with R&I and Claims group on BPT and CPT testing

                ∙Selects test shades and provides rationale

 

TIMELINES:    

•Partner with Development to manage all formula and shade-driven timelines to ensure key dates are met

 

Travel:

•R&I Labs (NJ)

•Vendors (NJ)

 

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years in color product development is necessary; understands in-depth the complexities of formula and shade development.
  • Strong analytical skills as it relates to new shade development and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of all beauty trends, as well as, art/design/fashion/lifestyle/demographic/psychographic trends.
  • Creativity and experience in multiple color/beauty categories a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with minimal administrative support is essential.
  • Strong ability to juggle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, hectic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Prepare slide presentations on shade analysis from a category and branding standpoint
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
