Global Warehousing Operational Excellence Manager
reporting to Global Physical Distribution Director (member of the Global SC Management Committee).

Following the successful rollout of a global and standardized Operational Excellence programme within our factories, our ambition is to do the same within our Distribution Centres across the World. We will do this by building on proven principles from both within and outside of our company, and by applying them to the culture of our Distribution Centres. This will become a part of “the way we work”, and will ensure our teams continue to innovate with the consumer in mind.
Purpose of this new role:
Based in the Global Corporate Supply Chain Team, you will lead the development and communication of a standardized global Operational Excellence programme for L’Oréal’s Distribution Centres, and support its implementation. You will work closely with manufacturing colleagues as well as Operational Excellence counterparts in the major geographical regions of the World, drawing on their experience as well as your own, in order to build a programme that becomes embedded in the workplace culture rather than aims to transform it.
You will be expected to provide the leadership, coaching and expertise needed to deliver a zero loss and 100% employee engagement environment.
This position requires an experienced and innovative Performance Improvement deployment leader with the capabilities of influencing our complex and matrix organization into defining, refining and executing a comprehensive Performance Improvement / Operational Excellence master plan in support of our sustainable end-to-end Supply Chain organizations.
What the job responsibilities will be:
Co-create, with manufacturing colleagues and your counterparts in the geographical regions, an Operational Excellence programme to be piloted and rolled out globally
Be an ambassador for an Operational Excellence mind-set
Coach at all hierarchical levels within the organization to develop capability within Operational Excellence
Prepare the necessary programme documentation to facilitate and standardize communication, training and implementation
Support Distribution Centres and functional leaders in developing, coordinating and evaluating effective PI/OE master plans
Work across the Supply Chain in the Distribution Centres, Customer Care and Planning Operations (Supply/Demand Planning) at all levels to help increase the PI/OE capabilities in line with the Corporate vision and mission
Coordinate regional and global PI/OE activities to include external visits, consultant support and audits
Coach PI/OE leaders to build needed capability including self-sustaining processes and internal coaching
Define, standardize and communicate the specific KPIs to measure progress.
Develop evaluations and formal audits against execution of the PI/OE master plan
Chair Operational Excellence steering committee meetings
Our Operational Excellence Programme plays a strategic role in the L’Oréal Global Supply Chain Transformation Programme, and is an opportunity to make some important and tangible changes to the quality and efficiency of our Distribution Centre operations. The opportunity to create a global programme of this importance will be a fast track to building a global network of contacts and understanding the Distribution Centre operations and culture.
As a part of the Corporate Physical Distribution Team, you will also have the opportunity to be involved in other projects (either global or country-specific) requiring operational support/expertise or thought-leadership.
The network you would work with:
You will build a network with senior Physical Distribution leadership in different regions of the World, and in some cases directly with Distribution Centre leadership. Close ties with manufacturing colleagues will be a key to success, as will collaboration with IT teams, especially related to the various IT solutions that support the Distribution Centre processes. You will also work closely with the Quality function, as well as other expertise areas within the Corporate Physical Distribution Team (e.g. Automation, 3PL Management, Analytics).
What qualities and skills you should have:
At least 4 years’ operational experience within a Distribution Centre
Exceptional capabilities in all aspects of the Process Improvement spectrum (e.g. Kaizen, DMAIC, Gemba walks, TPM, IWS, 5S, Visual Display Boards, continuous improvement of OEE.
Be an active member in a global collaborative network of PI/TPM peers
Change management experience
Strong working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma with application of DMAIC and Lean concepts
Extensive software capability including Excel, Word, Minitab (or other statistical software) and MS Project
Experience of working proactively, using own initiative and action and results orientated to focus on outcomes and drive actions
Ability to plan and prioritize effectively taking into account deadlines and resources
Proficiency in English
