Job Title: Academy Manager for L’Oreal Professionnel

Section 2:  Job Summary

The Academy Manager (AM) is an integral part of the education team, accountable for the development and implementation of the L’Oréal Professionnel Academy calendar of events and artist facilitators. This position leads a team of brand experts, champions brand resources with the goal to increase brand awareness, to establish a competitive point of difference, and to cultivate brand pride.  This position requires the coordination of logistics to all events happening at all L’Oreal Professionnel Academies.    Position is responsible for continuous improvement of systems in all areas.  Position responsible in the development of loyal customers by providing superior service to all L’Oreal Professionnel potential and existing clients, staff, distributors, and Salon professionals. The AM will work closely with the Director of Academy and Events to develop the artist’s skillset that will support and drive business goals.


Section 3:  Job Requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years of event planning, education and/or professional beauty industry experience. 
  • Cosmetology license required
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in developing educational program content and or conducting trainings
  • Adaptable to change, strong multitasking ability
  • Professional attitude and image - commitment to personal and professional development
  • Ability to travel 40% of time
  • Strong collaborative and influencing skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation
  • Organizational skills and efficient time management ability
  • Knowledge of business and educational aspects of Salon Centric / distributor organization

  • Must reside in the Northeast, a commutable distance to the NYO – 10 Hudson Yards, NY, NY 10001

This position requires moderate supervision as incumbent will be working independently the part of the time.

Section 5: Essential Physical Requirements:

Travel within the US (driving, flying, train, etc.), lifting of promotional materials and products up to 25 pound which may also require bending.

  • Works closely with VP of Education and the Artistic Director of Academy and Events to develop and design all Academy calendars and programs. 
  • Assists with the strategy and direction for all academy programs in conjunction with the VP of Education and Artistic Director of Academy and Events
  • Responsible for tracking the ROI of all Academy programs
  • Represents the Academy as brand liaison and hosts exclusive educational events for international partners.
  • Implements quality control procedures and processes for Academy artist performance, delivery of content, and brand message.
  • Maintain and update Academy artist manual: a comprehensive overview of roles and responsibilities, event expectations, and brand materials.
  • Creates a prestige environment for clientele, develops cost effective and health conscious catering menus, and manages catering displays.
  • Works collaboratively with ICOMMS team to manage academy portion of the pro website to generate interest and sales
















Responsible for the day-to-day activity and logistics’ of all Academy Programs.

  • Program set up and break down of display materials
  • Tri-pods and mannequin heads
  • Flipcharts, post it pads and markers
  • Retail and Color products (peroxide, tubes, bowls, brushes etc.)
  • Compilation of student binders for certification
  • Preparation of training and program support materials.
  • Catering and Audio Visual support
  • Trainer and program facilitation support
  • Maintenance of Academy dispensary and workspace.
  • Prepping, stocking and updating product inventory.
  • Upkeep of workshop floor area, stations, product pallets, shampoo bowls and backbar.
  • Recruitment and coordination of models for all hands on workshops and presentations.
  • Communication liaison between the Academy’s attendees, facilitators and brand.
  • Manages all other special projects as delegated by the Director of Academy and Events.



  • Coordinates Academy registrations and confirmations with MMS and compiles tuition revenue reports.
  • Manages MMS our registration partners to support and streamline the registration process
  • Works collaboratively with ICOMMS team to manage academy portion of the pro website to generate interest and sales
  • Pre/Post Key Program Recaps
  • Executes EMS event entry for academy activities
  • Oversees all academy budget and expenses
  • Monthly education status commentary for brand note
