Mechanic – Physical Flows (2nd Shift)

Job Summary: 

Schedules, implements, expedites and oversees repairs, preventative maintenance and renovations of electrical, plumbing, building, telephone, fire prevention systems, conveyor and computer systems for the South Brunswick facility.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Experience in a commercial and industrial environment, including battery charging forklifts, electrical panels and lighting, as well as HVAC.
  • Valid driver’s license required to operate company vehicles if required.
  • Experience with conveyor systems, PLC’s, motor controls, pneumatic devised and hydraulic equipment a plus.
  • Knowledge of computers (Excel and Microsoft Word) a plus.
  • General knowledge of alarm systems.
  • General knowledge of plumbing, painting and carpentry are essential.
  • General knowledge of pertinent OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to work from ladders and from heights.
  • General understanding of Distribution Center operations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, and move equipment and furniture.
  • Must be able to work overtime including weekends and be available “on-call” when needed.
  • Must be able to shovel snow and work in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and prioritize daily workload.

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

1.  Work with outside vendors to recommend to management the most efficient equipment and supplies that will provide excellent service to the facility.

2. Schedules, implements, expedites and oversees repairs, preventative maintenance and renovations of electrical, plumbing, building, telephone, fire prevention, conveyor and computer systems for Distribution Center. While contractors are on site - monitor to ensure all work is performed per specification of L’Oreal standards and all safety policies and procedures are adhered to as well as federal, state and local codes and guidelines.

3.  Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

4. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.

5. Work on building roof and do minor troubleshooting on HVAC to assist contractors when necessary.

6. Assist with special projects to support facility when needed.

7. Able to be trained and pass all physical requirements to be able to operate a par car, scissor lift, boom lift and PIT 1 and 2 (forklift) to transport material/equipment throughout the warehouse.

8. Working with minimum supervision and communicate day-to-day problems, safety issues and come up with viable solutions.
