Sr. Formulation Chemist-Powders Development, Clark, NJ  


What You’ll be doing:

As a Sr. Formulation Chemist, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for multiple projects within the Powders formulation development group in the Research & Innovation lab for brands like Maybelline, Dermablend, NYX, and IT cosmetics! Lead and manage multiple development and technology projects, providing both technical input and strategic manner of working in a highly collaborative environment. With your high degree of initiative, you’ll assess new areas and directions critical for product development and future success. Your strong personal management skills are key to leading the success of these exciting new projects!

What You’ll need:

  • Advanced formulation mastery, specific to powder cosmetics.
    • Ideally, knowledge of dry and wet process powder formulas.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of cosmetic processing to include:
    • Knowledge of equipment used in powder cosmetics (powder presses, production equipment) such as I.e. Mizhou, Vetraco, Wet process machines, Baker Perkins, CBM, Jet Mill, etc.
  • 3+ years Powder Make-up experience
  • High level of technical curiosity and keen sense of problem solving with solid root cause analysis.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to build relationships with key partner groups such as Pilot, Packaging, and Marketing etc.
  • Ability to lead teams in an aligned goal.  
  • Effective communication of ideas, project goals, and expected results.
  • High motivation and independent thinking to work well in a fast-paced environment and go beyond current knowledge and skill set in order to solve problems, resolve issues, and ensure goals are met.  
  • Participation and/or leadership as a departmental representative in inter-departmental teams and senior management meetings.
  • Ability to problem solve and drive for resolution quickly to ensure project success.

Must haves:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or related field) with minimum 3 years of experience in cosmetic and personal care industries.  Willing to consider advanced degree in place of full work experience given that it is applicable and relevant.
