The position of Assistant Merchandising Manager is an integral role within the Maybelline Merchandising Team.  This position oversees all remerchandising activity for the Maybelline Brand team. It is the interface between our business and agencies including the production, design and the field merchandisers that physically present the merchandise in store in accordance to Head Office planograms. It reports into the Merchandising Manager and works in conjunction with Marketing and Sales.

 

What are key highlights of this role?

 

The purpose of this position is to absorb and understand the marketing and sales briefs and to ensure all merchandising initiatives are project managed through the agencies maintaining quality, within budget and adhering to timelines. Strong commercial relationships need to be created and maintained with agencies and you will need to uphold professional lines of communication ensuring information is understood and expectations are exceeded.  This position oversees a budget of c£2 million.

 

 

  • To understand the Maybelline team, ensuring we implement the correct ranging strategy in store and that international and media visions are adhered to.

  • To assume responsibility for budget control, regular tracking to ensure optimal use of funds with no over/under spends. 

  • To develop an understanding and close liaison with promo and CPD counterparts.

  • Involvement in Category Management projects, where possible.

  • Develop strong industry and competitor awareness, with continual reporting and analysis to the business.

  • Develop strong internal relationships with key stakeholders such as Sales, Marketing and Purchasing

  • To build strong commercial relationships with external agencies:

  • Design Agency - brief them on the initiative and International direction and work together to design the complete visual appearance.

  • Production Agency -  provide specifications for different stores, spacing needs and preferred materials

  • Merchandising Agencies - ensure agency staff are using agreed HO planograms by category and that all necessary pieces are delivered in full and on time.

  • To continually appraise services by external suppliers and assess alternative suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency and the most economically viable options are being used.



    • Drive agencies to produce accurate performance results to assist with project analysis.

    • Ensuring appropriate channels are followed when getting initiatives signed off internally.

    • Present to committee and GM at weekly marketing meetings

    • Provide ongoing feedback to Account Managers on specific retailers and develop measurable action plans with timelines.

    • The project management of three major remerch's for Maybelline per year - inception to implementation

    • Ensure regular field visits to establish that all plans are executed to standard and on time.
