POSITION:                             Category Management Manager

SUMMARY:

This position will have the responsibilities of managing the key Partner Brands promotional calendar for SalonCentric Street, Stores and Sub Distribution channels in the assigned category. This individual will be responsible for the submission of the national partner brand calendar, gross profit/margin by brand and the financial commitment/agreements to support any margin loss from the brands, along with day to day management of the brand relationship and negotiating special buy-ins, inventory returns, pricing, etc.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Accountable for partner brand inventory goals in assigned category, including excess and obsolete inventory management and Trade Event Agreement submission

§  Accountable for delivering overall gross margin objectives within category/brands

§  Responsible for achieving inventory targets by brand

§  Inventory rationalization/review of Category SKU’s, vendors, etc.

§  Monitor SalonCentric purchases by brand, inventory, margins and report monthly to VP of Merchandising

§  Aids in the process of promotional buys/commitments

§  New product review: negotiation of salon pricing, SalonCentric pricing, exit strategy, return terms and creation of commercial launch strategy

§  Collaborates on Partner Brand promotional calendar

§  Work closely with cross functional department heads to ensure continuity and follow through from all departments

§  SalonCentric communication to Partner Brands and within company

§  Coordinates and works collaboratively with Merchandising Managers for other categories

§  Evaluates and reviews commercial strategy for new items and assesses long term viability

§  Works cross-functionally with procurement on all promotional recommendations

§  Identifies new market  opportunities and Go-To-Market strategies

§  Offers an unbiased category perspective for the company

§  Develops processes for sharing best practices in managing product portfolio

§  Attends retail, industry and Partner Brand trade shows/events as requested/needed

§  Fosters an environment that welcomes change and promotes high levels of ingenuity, creative thinking, risk tolerance and collaboration

§  Encourages respectful debate and discussion so that team ideas are considered thoughtfully

§  Weekly meetings within Category Management

§  Responsible for vendor scorecard creation and oversees management of the scorecard

§  Responsible for promotional Ad Specs and Catalog proofing.  

§  Evaluates new products and create commercial launch strategy

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

§  Bachelor’s degree in Business Mgmt, Marketing or related field preferred.

§  5 years related work experience required, experience in the Professional Beauty Industry highly desired  

§  Strong team player, ability to multi-task and problem solve

§  Good understanding of current market trends and knowledge of brands

§  Creative approach to team building and go to market strategies

§  Proficient in Word, Excel and a good understanding of inventory and data systems

§  Ability to lead and motivate multiple groups and/or individuals
