CHIMEX, a L'Oreal Group affiliate reporting to the Operations Division, is a company active in speciality chemistry and biotechnology. CHIMEX uses its research and expertise to develop innovative processes using a methodology that incorporates ecodesign parameters.

Our goal is to bring our clients innovative and eco-responsible industrial processes that meet our clients' and consumers' environmental and social aspirations.

CHIMEX is recruiting a Research and Development Director for its Research & Development Department.


Key roles and responsibilities:

In compliance with CHIMEX's general policy (on quality, safety, performance and corporate social responsibility) and in the aim of providing customer services and promoting CHIMEX's image and values, your responsibilities are to:

  1. Define and implement CHIMEX's Research & Development strategy to develop the activity and meet clients' requirements.


  2. Design and introduce the innovation plan for processes and products.


  3. Manage the department's staff and develop the teams' knowledge and expertise in line with R&D priorities.


  4. Ensure compliance with regulations (Reach, etc.) and reporting

You will report directly to the CEO and sit on the affiliate's Management Board.


You will be responsible for a team of 35 people.

Your profile:

You have a scientific background in Chemistry or Biotechnology with proven expertise in organic synthesis and/or biotechnology, green chemistry and ecodesign. You have over ten years experience in researching and developing manufacturing processes and industrializing these processes. You have thorough knowledge of the chemistry market, biotechnology and more specifically cosmetic ingredients. You have the inquisitiveness to understand challenges and complex issues, the creativity to bring the business innovative solutions, and the management skills to motivate and develop your teams. You are a good communicator and problem solver. With your strong interpersonal skills, you enjoy working in a team and can persuade, organize and analyze in a volatile and complex environment. You are English–French bilingual.
