Head of Corporate Communications in the Corporate Affairs Team

Purpose of your role:

The Head of Corporate Communications is a key role within the UK and Ireland subsidiary of the L’Oréal Group.  Based in the Corporate Affairs team and reporting to the Corporate Affairs Director, this role is responsible for building and enhancing corporate reputation, leading the day to day execution of media relations, and for the development of content for owned channels.

Your key job accountabilities:


Protect and build the reputation of the Group, its brands and people in the UK and Ireland, ensuring its position is fully understood by key external audiences:
Lead the development and implementation of multi-stakeholder external communication strategies
Oversee the management of a proactive and reactive press office
Identify and develop thought leadership platforms and themes to enhance reputation across multi-stakeholder groups
Assess speaker platforms and align opportunities
Develop corporate narrative and messaging for proactive activity, leading the development of associated collateral and content
Deliver reporting including Gender Pay Gap and Modern Slavery reports
Identify and anticipate issues, establishing robust procedures, policies and positions to ensure best in class preparedness and management
Manage issues and crises, acting as company spokesperson. In-house expert in crisis management across both press and social media
Provide counsel to senior management on aspects of communications, support senior business leaders in their external engagement through briefing and coaching
Review brand advertising and marketing activities to ensure adherence to relevant internal and external codes
Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, represent the Group on industry committees e.g. CTPA, MediaSmart
Oversee the delivery of the Group’s CSR programme communications in the UK and Ireland:
Develop UK & Ireland Sharing Beauty with All communications strategy and lead its implementation
Liaise with global teams to deliver UKI CSR and Sharing Beauty with all objectives
Lead the UK and Ireland Green Teams steering group
Coordinate local sustainability activities to help deliver the Group’s 2030 targets
Consult on brand’s charitable partnership proposals and divisional charitable partnerships
Act as a centre of excellence and support for teams across the business
Manage the allocated budget
Deputise for Corporate Affairs Director where necessary
Line manage the Corporate Communications Manager, For Women in Science Event Administrator and an Analyst resource.

YOU HAVE...
Demonstrable Corporate Affairs/Public Affairs/Corporate Communications experience, ideally within a consumer-facing sector in-house
Experience as a credible and capable adviser at multiple levels
Extensive first hand issues and crisis management experience for a consumer brand, proven ability to provide sound communications advice in crisis situations
Strong media handling skills as front line company spokesperson
Experience working with multiple external stakeholders
Impeccable writing, editing and presentation development skills – with the ability to adapt writing style for diverse audiences and channels
Strong prioritisation skills, able to balance multiple projects at any one time
Ability to establish, exploit and influence effective networks at all levels  - excellent relationship building skills.
An ability to move effortlessly between strategy, implementation and tactical opportunities.
Ability to rapidly digest and distil complex issues, formulate strategy / responses and execute to a high standard, and with sound judgment in order to act as reputational advisor to business stakeholders
Confident, persuasive individual who is comfortable dealing with stakeholders across all levels in the business
Highly motivated with a bias for action, you enjoy working at pace and are a discreet, trusted advisor
Great team player with positive and enthusiastic approach
