Job Summary:

The Manager, Sales Operations – will have Returns Management oversight for the MGe and LP Returns process, driving the Budget and Trend assessments utilized in the building and refining of the P&L. The individual will participate in identifying process improvements and report development that will aid Field Sales and Senior Management in making more informed decisions. The Manager will also serve as a Sales Administration liaison for one of the divisions of CPD. Responsible for the creation and dissemination of daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc account forecast reporting. Provide APEX (internal trade system) support and instill best practices with the Field Sales teams to allow for greater data integrity within the system.

This position involves interaction with Field Sales, Business Planning, Finance, Brand Business Development, Sales Management, Brand Marketing, Demand Planning and other cross-functional team members within CPD. The incumbent must have the interpersonal skills to interact effectively, strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business
  • Minimum of 5 + years of experience in Consumer Products
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience working in a data warehouse environment
  • Understanding the P&L
  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Judgment and Decision Making:

Supervision required is Moderate. The Manager works closely with his/her divisional colleagues in the areas noted


Financial Scope:

Annual Revenue Responsibility:  The Manager monitors the MGe and LP Returns liabilities with annual costs of $160 million


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Evaluation Of Discontinuation Assessments

  • Create EOD assessments based on prescribed CPD financial methodology - utilized as foundation for financial provision

2. Add/Delete Process

  • Represent Sales Admin in Add/Delete meetings to understand basis for Budget and Trend assessments

3.  Budget & Trend Support

  • Build Budget and Trend flow recommendations for Returns and Markdowns based on key metrics. Partner with Sales Administration and cross functional management to have assumptions vetted
  • Dissect Returns by segmentation to comprehend influences (Corporate & Non-Corporate Discontinuations, Promotional, Overstocks and Damages)
  • Implement Quarterly Returns meetings with key stakeholders (Sales, Business Planning, Brand Business Development, Finance and Sales Admin management) to present the latest risk and opportunity findings

4.  Report Advocate

  • Provide category views of MTD and YTD Return actuals by type
  • Develop & maintain Promo sell-thru analyses - Partner with BBD teams to identify Account Specific and/or National Program nuances
  • Partner with IT resources to automate recurrent reports and develop enhanced reports that can be drawn on internally
  • Leverage Supply Chain, Sales Forecasting, Financial, PEA and APEX data for ad hoc analyses

5.  Division Liaison

  • Create and disseminate monthly field communications detailing APEX forecast timelines and expectations
  • Maintain Daily and Monthly Forecast Reporting documents
  • Collaborate with Sales Planning lead to update and issue LE to CPD organization
  • Support APEX account forecasting, event creation, maintenance and data compliance – work with field team to troubleshoot issues
