Oversees and coordinates all testing done by IQ Laboratories. Organizes and maintains the Lab functions to ensure consistent smooth operations.   Responsible for all operations of the lab and works to maximize productivity while controlling costs of operating the lab.  Works with the Process Expert, the UP management and others, as necessary. 


General Job Duties

Responsibilities are not limited to the below listing:

  • Responsible for support of the Unit of Production (UP), regarding the control testing of packaging, components, bulk, and finished goods;
  • Oversees testing on bulk, WIP, and finished goods according to R&D’s specifications;
  • Attends L’Oreal training sessions on quality related topics;
  • Knows, understands, and implements L’Oreal rules;
  • Understands and is knowledgeable of the Quality Manual and test methods;
  • Responsible for training of the laboratory staff;
  • Responsible for writing or approving documents related to the laboratory functions (work instructions, forms, etc.);
  • Involved in the purchase and implementation of new lab equipment and their effects on quality;
  • Maintain and distribute the TBQ for components, bulk, and finished goods;
  • Responsible for preparation and submission of waivers for components, bulk, and finished goods;
  • Good knowledge of ISO and GMP requirements;
  • Ensure GMP/ISO/DGO compliance of labs and the UP by performing routine audits;
  • Troubleshoots non-conformance in components, bulk, finished goods and propose solutions;
  • Manages non-conformance/blocked lots of AC, PF, WIP, and Bulk;
  • Interface between UP, Purchasing/Packaging;
  • Member of the internal/external audit team;
  • Part of the capital investment team with Engineering, UP, and the Process Expert;
  • Responsible for validation of laboratory equipment;
  • Strongly involve in safety programs.
 

Organization of Lab Area

  • Maintains the laboratory by ensuring:
    • Understanding and thoroughly performing test methods specified by L’Oreal groups;
    • Calibration of all laboratory instruments;
    • Tests are performed following all laboratory and safety regulations and procedures;
    • Ordering of supplies/reagents needed for the laboratory instruments in order to perform the necessary tests

Environmental Factors

  • Machinery may produce noise levels that exceed OSHA’s action level:  Employees are provided with and are required to wear personal hearing protection devices in these areas;
  • Employees are required to wear steel-toed shoes.

Educational, Skills, and Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Chemistry is preferred or Engineering);
  • 5-10 years experience in quality related discipline, analytical testing, or equivalent;
  • Strong quality experience in a manufacturing background preferred;
  • Basic math and statistics;
  • PC Skills utilizing Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and related MS Office Software are necessary for success;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Strong training skills;
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills, French a plus.
