As pioneer in the development of alternative methods to replace animal testing for safety assessment of cosmetic products, L’Oréal remains highly engaged to unlock the remaining scientific challenges, and widespread non animal approaches all around the world and across industries.

Within Advanced Research, the international department “Alternatives Methods and Reconstructed Skins” is specifically in charge of the development of the New Approach Methologogies (NAMs), in strong partnership with Worldwide Safety teams in charge of Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA). One of their remaining key challenges is to be able to predict systemic toxicity for cosmetic ingredients.

The mission of the candidate will consist in leading internal and external projects, as well as bringing his/her expertise and experience to contribute to existing projects as well (eg case studies).

As part of the Alternative Methods department, under the responsibility of a senior expert leading internal and external research programs, you will contribute to:



  • Lead/co-lead our internal project on systemic toxicity (covering general as well as organ effects on acute, repeated doses, reprotoxicity and genotoxicity). In strong connexion with the programs leaders and your core team, you will build the vision and roadmap, manage the budget and deliverables, and coordinate the work of a whole multi-entity project team (toxicology, modelling, biology, …)
  • Ensure the connexion with toxicokinetics projects (ADME and PBPK)
  • Manage and develop internal and external case studies
  • Contribute to external working groups (eg chemoinformatics, pharmacology profiling) within consortia where L’Oréal is highly involved (European framework project, cosmetics Europe ..),
  • Disseminate our expertise through internal and external communication and scientific publications


  • PhD in toxicology, biology or biochemistry ,
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience in industry or international consortia,
  • Broad knowledge in toxicology, mainly in systemic toxicity, computational toxicology, pharmacology ,
  • proven experience to transform chemical and biological information into toxicological knowledge ,
  • Experience in external consortia (cosmetics, food, chemistry, pharma ..) ,
  • Preferably: safety assessment of cosmetics products and ingredients, cosmetic regulation

  • clear & impactful communication (int/ext), 
  • autonomous, strategist, 
  • ability to manage complexity, project management and collaborative mindset,
  • Published and communicated work in academic or industry fields ,
  • English and French speaking
