Inside L’Oréal’s Research & Innovation Division, Product Performance Evaluation is responsible for working with our over 35 brands, marketing, and scientists to design studies, collect feedback, and make important conclusions regarding our products using the latest instruments, methodologies, and techniques. We value the development of products that consumers find innovative, reliable, and sustainable. We are seeking a creative Scientist to join our team at our Clark, New Jersey Research & Innovation location .As part of the Instrumental and Clinical Claims team you’ll design, coordinate and execute instrumental studies for aid-to-formulation and innovation projects for skin care, skin cleansing, and hygiene products manufactured by L’Oréal USA.

You Will . . .

  • Organize, plan, and effectively execute internal instrumental testing to support aid to formulation and innovation studies for skin care, skin cleansing, and hygiene
  • Work to create, improve, and adapt existing methods. Collaborates with development labs, international colleagues, and the evaluation team to determine which tests are needed;
  • Work on expanding knowledge of skin biology and skin products, including executing research studies when needed;
  • Analyze instrumental test data and prepares reports, memos, and presentations to clearly communicate findings and share information with colleagues;
  • Maintain instrumentation and laboratory equipment and ensures proper operation/maintenance documentation;
  • Train on all relevant current methods as well as new methods that are deployed. Perform validations of new devices when necessary.
  • Evaluate and summarizes published literature (internal and external) on relevant skin topics.
  • Drive projects from inception to completion with quality, timeliness, and professionalism;
  • Prioritize projects workload with supervisor, performs project tracking and scheduling;
  • Develop ways to improve efficiency of daily operation of the Instrumental/Clinical Evaluation group.


You Have . . .
  • Completed a Bachelors' degree with 1+ years with relevant, industry experience; areas of study considered include Engineering, Biological, Physical or Materials Sciences, or other related fields
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written/oral), and organizational skills a must
  • Experience with experimental lab work and equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is required;
  • Experience in processing data and statistical analysis is required
  • Experience with computer programming such at MatLab required
  • Experience in image processing (ImageJ, ImagePro) is a plus
  • Experience with the following technical equipment preferred: Corneometer, Chromameter, TEWL measurement, Clinical Photography and Digital Photography tools;
  • Technical writing/presentation skills a must

  • Able to bring new ideas, relevant to advancing instrumental skin evaluation, to life
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Authorized to work in the US on a permanent, ongoing basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
