Senior Manager - Business Intelligence Solutions

Job Description

L’Oreal USA is looking for a Manager of our Business Intelligence team in Berkeley Heights, NJ. This position will be responsible for architecture, build and support of Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions.  Candidate must work in a collaborative and adaptable approach to drive consensus in design and BI technology alignment with Global BI teams with a commitment to results and quality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proven ability to build strong working relationships with all levels within the organization is essential, as well as ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prioritize and drive projects for BI solutions from concept to user valued reporting and analytics solutions
  • Translate business requirements into a proposed solution, reviewing the design and requirements and build working solutions  
  • Manage projects from estimation to completion, developing detailed project plans and providing accurate status updates to management
  • Provide BI expertise in the development of data models, dashboards, reports and interactive self-service BI capabilities
  • Test solution and coordinate testing with Business Analyst, ensuring that solution performs to expectations and meets all requirements for accuracy, clarity and ease of use
  • Ensure that all standards for data quality, compliance and L’Oreal norms are upheld in solution.  Design repeatable processes with little manual intervention required
  • Manage, build and develop data warehouse interfaces, ETL scripts, and design cube for self-service. Hands on development of analytical systems, strategies and best practices, production reports and database models
  • Research issues and Identify root cause of information issues and design a solution that will prevent the problem from re-occurring.   Where business processes need to be adjusted to ensure stability, work with business leaders to define better processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve both the business and technical processes to increase efficiency, accuracy or functionality of our solutions
  • Coordinate analysis, development and communication efforts with the B2C BI team to be the extension of the Corporate BI team

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft data technologies, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS (Multidimensional and Tabular), SSRS and SharePoint
  • Extensive expertise in data modeling, both logical and physical
  • Understanding of Data Science capabilities to focus on business value via machine learning, predicative and perspective analytics is desired
  • Experience with modern dashboarding and data discovery tools like Tibco Spotfire and Microsoft PowerBI specifically is a plus
  • Experience with the technologies in the NoSQL and Hadoop ecosystems is a huge plus

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be an effective BI leader with strong Program Management, Business Intelligence, and Data skills, and a proven track record of success in delivering business intelligence initiatives. He/she should demonstrate the ability and experience to architect and create complex BI solutions.

  • B.S in computer science or equivalent degree with 8+ years of information technology experience
  • A minimum 5 years of experience designing and managing Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Projects
  • Experience creating a data-driven culture and impactful data strategies
  • A strong passion for data integrity and experience in setting up a methodology to ensure high levels of data accuracy in the data warehouse
  • Knowledge of integration concepts as they relate to sourcing data from disparate sources
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical design and rules/logic
  • Ability to lead design sessions and coordinate with internal and external resources as necessary
  • Experience leading technical teams with and without a direct reporting structure
  • Strong program and project management skills with ability to coordinate and manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong work ethic and a compulsion to make a difference
  • Ability to track and report status to Sr. IT Management and business partners
  • Strong business acumen, especially in sales, POS, and finance functions is desired
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Fundamental understanding of software development lifecycle including Agile
