We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Sun Care & Photoprotection Clinical & Instrumental Evaluation Intelligence Team. As a key member of the team, you will manage and execute Sun care studies on regulated over the counter (OTC) products to ensure testing is conducted in accordance with local regulatory agencies for global regulatory compliance of L’Oréal OTC products; supporting and coordinating L’Oreal workgroups related with photobiology and photoprotection; developing the Scientific knowledge in this field; ensuring the best quality practices on the process for the area. 

 

In this function you will be working cross functionally with the Development and Innovation Labs in all categories(Skin and Makeup), as well as, safety and regulatory teams, and international Hubs.

 

As a Senior Scientist in our Sun Care & Photoprotection Clinical and Instrumental Evaluation Intelligence Team, your main responsibilities are:

  • Work closely with Photoprotection Evaluation Intelligence Team, to understand deadlines to ensure initiation of sun care testing in a timely manner
  • Ability to influence others in order to ensure needs from lab are met
  • Ability to independently coordinate SPF and UVA testing following FDA and International methodologies
  • Ability to independently coordinate Visible light testing a plus
  • Ability to contact vendors to provide testing timelines, generate sample submissions, provide shipping details
  • Organizational abilities and familiarity with tracking systems to communicate testing results and studies status to internal partners
  • Ability to independently collaborate and negotiate with vendors
  • Capable of working in a matrix organization, including strong teamwork skills a must;
  • Work cross functionally to provide necessary documentations
  • Ability to process and documents test results using L’Oréal internal systems
  • Effectively communicate and problem solve issues
  • Clearly report results and review draft reports for finalization
  • Promote the Photoprotection and the Photobiology knowledge, and scientific
      development;
  • Validate and monitor new and existing SPF CRO’s to ensure high quality of testing
  • Monitor SPF studies at CROs

 

To Succeed in this Position, You Have:

  • A completed Bachelors or Master's degree is required. Areas of study include Biological, Physical or Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • 4-6 years (Bachelors)/2-4 years (Masters) of relevant working experience in instrumental or clinical evaluation required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in regulatory or OTC/Sunscreen product testing within cosmetics, chemicals or pharmaceutical industries and/or at CROs testing facilities, and/or on Pharmaceutical Clinical Research
  • Knowledge of US/ international cosmetics and OTC/Sunscreen regulations
  • Computer proficiency: Excel, Power-Point, Word, Outlook
  • Statistical analysis/interpretation
  • Experience with photoprotection products such as Research, Formulations, Regulatory,  in vivo SPF testing, as well as UVA in vitro testing
  • Willing to travel in US (10%)
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)
