Title: Senior Scientist II, Scientific and Technology Foresight
Location: Clark, New Jersey
We are looking for an inquisitive Senior Scientist II to reinforce our Strategic Scientific Foresight team, whose mission is to help anticipate and prepare for the future by tracking scientific and technological advances and by identifying opportunities, competitive threats, and even the weakest signals of change.
Part of an international team, the candidate will be connected to operational R&I labs to share insights and build a global vision. He/she/they will also be exposed to senior management and will participate in exploring long term research orientations and innovation strategies.
Our Scientific Foresight teams identify disruptive and emerging technology and scientific trends relevant to L’Oreal R&I challenges and business and are responsible for a precise analysis of the potential of the technology or the scientific field. This role combines a candidate’s ability to appreciate advances in cutting edge technology in the biological, chemical, physical, digital, and engineering sciences and an ability to analyze how these advances could impact L’Oreal’s market position. The analysis and reports from the Scientific Foresight team are used by senior management to aid in strategic decision making for adoption of new technologies and focus areas.
In addition to strong scientific and analytical abilities, we seek a candidate with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a team player with the ability to effectively handle organizational complexity and with strong persuasive verbal and written communication skills.
A solid understanding of industry dynamics (biotech, medtech, etc), R&D and key public entities and players in North America and/or experience in sourcing, evaluating and investing in technology startup companies would be a significant added advantage.
