Assistant Vice President, US Fast Track and Foresight Lead, L'Oreal Research & Innovation

We are currently seeking a candidate to lead our Fast Track activity within our US Innovation Team in our Hudson Yards office in New York City.

  

The Fast Track Lead should have 7-10 years' experience in Beauty with strong ability to:

 

  • see trends, cultural shifts and identify which ones should be concretely followed by the group.
  • detect interesting innovative products / technologies / concepts / experiences and define which one could be concretely transformed and launched by the group, in line with the group strategy
  • push an idea and lead a validation process among different hierarchical levels
  • influence people from diverse teams and backgrounds around a common project
  • establish and leverage personal networks to gain market insights and influence across categories
  • work collaboratively with Global Fast track partners to influence and drive global panier process

 

This is a role that requires a true sensitivity for cosmetic products, strong marketing and communication skills, as well as a great trend intuition. This role is also for someone with an analytical mind which can use data to support a recommendation. This role requires extreme knowledge of the beauty industry (brands, influencers, media, vloggers, social media, etc.), and confidence to forecast trends and push an idea. This role is for a curious, self-motivated, hardworking, organized and detail-oriented individual, who is passionate about all things beauty, fashion and pop-culture, and is able to spot the next “big thing” and make it happen!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

SCREEN & ANALYSE THE US COMPETITION ACTIVITIES ON A DAILY BASIS focusing on products as a priority + trends that can inspire R&I to innovate

 

LEAD THE US COMPETITION FAST TRACK ACTIVITY:

 

  • SPOT, DECODE & CURATE INTERESTING US PRODUCTS & TRENDS THAT REPRESENT NEW OPPORTUNITIES  FOR L’OREAL. 
  • LEAD THE VALIDATION PROCESS OF THE STRONGEST US FAST TRACK PRODUCT OPPORTUNITIES. 
  • LEAD THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SELECTED PRODUCTS INTO L’OREAL BRANDS LAUNCH PLANS

in strong collaboration with labs (US & inter) & US Innovation Team and Global Fast track team

- support and strategize the projects with relevant market and consumer data

- push the projects to Brands & top management – lead the meetings with both lab’s and business’ top management

  

COMMUNICATE EFFICIENTLY ABOUT NEW US PRODUCTS & TRENDS  

- proactively share and exchange with Global Fats Track community & key stakeholders

- actively contribute to the Innovation Department trends reports (“Zooms” reports) led by the Central Competitive Intelligence Director

 

SET UP & ANIMATE A US FAST TRACK COMMUNITY

Develop a network of US partners from any métiers to support the above missions including business teams & US CMO team

 

MANAGE US FAST TRACK BUDGET

 

PROFILE 

  • Global marketing / product development experience or senior operational marketing profile (Assistant Vice President level) with strong product sensitivity, creative and conceptual skills.
  • minimum of 7 years in the beauty industry
  • Avid Social Media user (Twitter, Snap Chat, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Able to analyze figures, decode market and consumer insights
  • leadership skills, able to push ideas through the organization
  • strong writing and communication skills
  • Team player, able to interact with different teams and several countries despite the distance
  • open-minded, curious, intuitive
  • autonomous, proactive

 

REPORTING AND LOCATION 

  • Reporting to US Chief Innovation Officer and dotted line to the Central Fast Track Director
  • Located in New York City
