What You Will Do:

The Plant Hygienist position provides assurance that all facets of hygiene including: cleaning processes, systems, equipment, personnel/training that are used in manufacturing operations are at the highest level of efficacy, efficiency, and conformance to all procedures and regulations both internally and externally. Additionally, the hygiene role supports the plant by ensuring that the hygiene controls in place are making their maximum contribution to overall quality, manufacturing, environmental and all other applicable goals of the plant and organization.  The Plant Hygienist also contributes to the Quality Assurance group by maintaining programs vital to the overall compliance to regulatory bodies and ISO standards.

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Science related field  (preferable Chemical Engineering);
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment working with processing equipment and chemicals
  • Working knowledge of CGMP and ISO9001 standards.
  • Computer Skills and programs:  Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint – Required) (Project – desired)
  • Industrial microbiology knowledge
  • Performance of risk analysis

CLEANING & SANITIZATION

  • Develop and Maintain Site Cleaning and Sanitization Master Plan.
  • Work with Research and Development, Pilot (US and France) to ensure efficiency of cleaning recipes;
  • Collaborate with other hygienists to develop best practices for cleaning and sanitization.
  • Develop cleaning and sanitization work instructions for production equipment in compliance with DGO standards.  Update existing instructions as needed.
  • Execute validations of all manufacturing cleaning and sanitization work instructions using DGO guidelines.
  • Develop and/or Participate in continuous improvement projects to aid in the reduction of water usage, chemical sanitization etc..
  • Collaborate with cross functional team on all Out of Specification microbiological issues.
  • Set up and maintain Clean in Place recipes in processing equipment
  • Accountable as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal and external audits

HYGIENIC DESIGN

  • Provide guidance to the Units of Production during design phase when purchasing new equipment with regards to cleaning and sanitization requirements.
  • Provide guidance to hygienic design of equipment for product contact surfaces.
  • Provide training as SME to engineers on hygienic design of equipment.

CHEMICAL HYGIENE OFFICER

  • Maintain chemical hygiene plan compliance
  • Provide training to applicable employees.
  • Accountable as SME for internal and external audits

RO WATER DISTRIBUTION

  • Perform quarterly review of RO water distribution system
    • Micro testing results
    • TOC testing result
    • Facility monitoring checklists
    • Maintain data in accessible database
  • Participate as quality SME for change management to the system
  • Accountable as SME for internal and external audits

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

  • Review new formulations and provide risk analysis to determine:
  • If cleaning validation is required.
  • Eligibility for back to back processing and/or filling program

ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING

  • Execute weekly environmental monitoring of manufacturing facility
  • Provide trending reports of results
  • Review facility temperature and humidity monitoring monthly reports
  • Responsible for providing quality risk analysis and investigations for any Out of Trend environmental results. 
  • Responsible for the implementation of solutions and corrective actions.
  • Escalate issues to management
  • Accountable as SME for internal and external audits

BACK TO BACK 

  • Maintain compliance to Corporate (DGO) back to back (B2B) program
  • Perform analysis on formulations for inclusion into the program
  • Write and execute protocols for B2B validations
  • Ensure adherence through internal auditing

PEST CONTROL

  • Maintain and monitor pest control program
    • Review reports
    • Escalate issues to management.
    • Provide risk assessment for Out of Trend results
    • Contact person for service provider
    • Ensure adherence to contract and DGO requirements.
  • Accountable as SME for internal and external audits.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform internal audits as directed
  • Conduct general CGMP training as directed
  • Perform special projects
  • Active engagement in Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) special events.
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable Regulatory, Corporate and Internal requirements with regards to the above mentioned functions.
  • Active participation in all required SHEQ programs.  Including but not limited to MESUR, SIO, QIO.

  • Demonstrated success in persuasion, influence and negotiation skills
  • Results Oriented
  • Industry Specific Knowledge a plus
