L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator is a global team tasked with identifying, developing, and launching innovations in the areas of digital technology, personalization and customization, connected devices, and artificial intelligence. Operating as a startup within L’Oréal’s Research and Innovation division, the Tech Incubator drives disruptive change across the Group, developing new products and services for all of L’Oréal’s brands.


The team includes hardware engineers, user experience designers, data scientists, brand marketers, and project managers. Projects are developed through ongoing partnerships with entrepreneurs, academic institutions, design agencies, research organizations, and engineering firms.  Among technologies created and launched by the team are La Roche Posay’s wearable My UV Patch, Lancôme’s personalized foundation Le Teint Particulier, and L’Oréal Paris’ augmented reality app, Makeup Genius.
 

The L’Oréal Tech Incubator group is seeking an ambitious Junior Engineer to work alongside more senior engineers, product managers and designers within the group. JUNIOR HARDWARE ENGINEER – Tech Incubator, Clark, NJ

 

WHAT WE’LL DO TOGETHER:

As a Junior Engineer, you’ll have exposure to the latest technology in connected devices, user experience concerns, projects that combine hardware & software, and cosmetics formulation. You are empowered to own your role. The ultimate goal is to develop your autonomy and run technical projects with enough experience.

Position will be based in Clark, NJ with expected occasional travel (5-10%)


WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE: 

  • Design and execution of experiments related to connected hardware projects
  • Design of fixtures for testing/experiments
  • Creating executive level reports of experiment results and recommendations
  • Assist with in-store device setup and/or PR events for pilot program launches
  • Providing input on the expansion of the Tech Incubator in-house lab
  • Steer project directions and have input into Incubator project pipeline
  • Stay up to date on beauty industry and other industries for state of the art technology that could be applied to Incubator projects

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics experience
  • Up to 1 year+ experience with connected device Product Design
  • Experience with mechatronics (electro-mechanical systems) a plus
  • Some proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks) preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PPT
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work in the USA on an ongoing basis
