The HR DataAnalytics & Governance team in Hudson Yards, NY is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data, analytics, and governance strategy, ensuring data governance and compliance, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. They collaborate with business leaders, oversee analytics capabilities, and promote a data-driven culture. They play a crucial role in leveraging data and analytics to create value and drive business growth and innovation. 

 

What You Will Do:


L’Oréal USA is seeking a Director of HR Governance responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving a robust governance framework aligned with L’Oréal’s strategic objectives and business priorities across all HR functions. In this context, "governance" refers to the system of processes, policies, and controls implemented within HR to ensure alignment with L’Oréal’s strategic objectives, business priorities, legal and regulatory requirements, and ethical principles. 

 

This role ensures data integrity, process efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management within the HR function. This includes maintaining data integrity, driving process efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing risks effectively within all areas of HR, such as talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, learning and development, and HR systems. 

 

The Director will develop a deep understanding of our company norms, audit results, strategic priorities, and stakeholder needsidentify opportunities for improvement of our current state; then develop and implement strong governance processes enabling our HR community through ease, excellence, expertise, and energyThese actions will encompass every step from identification of opportunities through change management to end user engagement and measuring success 

 

With a keen emphasis on the importance of being a data driven organization, the Director of HR Governance will embed the use of data and analytics in all steps of our governance, processes, and procedures and support upskilling our HR community in this area. This role will require immense cross-functional collaboration, the ability to influence stakeholders, and strong leadership skills.The Director will partner closely with all levels of the HR community and several internal partners such as Legal, IT, Finance, Communications, and other stakeholders to drive a culture of accountability and compliance while supporting strategic HR initiatives. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 


Data & Process Governance: 

  • Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures for HR data.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and security across all HR systems and processes.
  • Oversee data access controls and user permissions.
  • Partner with IT to maintain data integrity and implement data management best practices.
  • Define and monitor key metrics related to data quality and governance.
  • Design, document, and maintain efficient and effective HR processes.
  • Conduct regular process audits and identify areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate process improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including flowcharts, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Monitor process performance and identify opportunities for automation and optimization.


HR & Audit Compliance: 

  • Manage internal and external HR audits.
  • Develop audit plans and coordinate audit activities.
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Track and report on audit progress and results.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Stay abreast of evolving employment laws and regulations – US and Europe (ex. CSRD, GDP)
  • Ensure HR policies and practices are compliant with all applicable laws.
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews and risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on HR compliance topics.
  • Partner with Legal to address compliance issues and mitigate risks.


Change Management: 

  • Lead change management efforts related to HR process improvements and system implementations.
  • Develop and execute communication plans to ensure stakeholder buy-in and adoption.
  • Provide training and support to employees impacted by changes.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of change initiatives and adjust as needed.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including HR leadership, business unit leaders, IT, Legal, and external auditors.
  • Effectively communicate governance requirements and expectations to stakeholders.
  • Proactively engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address governance challenges and achieve shared objectives.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements, build consensus, and drive decision-making.
  • Actively solicit feedback from stakeholders and incorporate it into governance processes.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed of governance activities and progress.
  • Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
  • Build consensus and gain buy-in for governance initiatives.
  • Represent HR Governance on cross-functional teams and committees.

 


What We Are Looking For:


Required Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR, with a focus on governance, compliance, and process improvement.
  • Deep understanding of HR data management, data governance principles, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the change related to governance of processes and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and data analytics tools, specifically Success Factors and Avature.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Skills in Power BI and data analytics languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, etc.) are a plus.

 

Preferred Certifications: 


  • Certification in a relevant field (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, CIPP/E)
  • Process Improvement Certification (e.g., Six Sigma)
  • Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Change Management Certification (e.g., Prosci)
  • Professional certifications in data governance (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT).
