JOB SCOPE:

The Lead’s role is responsible for allocating resources, directing/redirecting workflow, and assisting with day-to-day activities necessary to meet production goals for the Picking, Receiving, Material Handling or Shipping department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following (but not limited to):


• Review, evaluate, and monitor staff performance; and recommend appropriate staffing of all order processing work zones.

• Conduct frequent safety inspections and quality assessments of the work areas.

• Coordinate workflow within outbound functions to expedite site production.

• Determine work progress and reevaluate staffing needs accordingly.

• Responsible for training new employees and coaching existing employees.

• Provide goals and expectations to shipping and materials handling staff.

• Review the operation of the outbound departments to monitor safety, production, quality, and efficiency to anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Provide and preserve the security and accuracy of all inventory.

• Initiate and complete projects that improve safety, and efficiency, and/or reduce operating costs.

• Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for all outbound positions; review safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for the site.

• Implement programs and procedures to ensure site cleanliness.

• Use problem-solving techniques that result in improvements in performance and productivity.

• With assistance from the Supervisor, inform the team of any policy or procedure changes.

• Motivates others when change occurs to obtain positive results.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Employee must possess basic computer skills.


LANGUAGE and MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Excellent communication skills in written and oral form are required. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents including company policies and employee handbook. Employees will need to have the ability to count and apply mathematical concepts (i.e. calculate figures and amounts when using percentages and fractions) quickly and accurately to practical situations including budget analysis.
