A Day in the Life
This position will be responsible for maintaining SAP Product Compliance functionality through semi-annual regulatory updates, loading substance level data and troubleshooting ruleset issues. Additionally, the position must ensure compliance with global requirements for safety data sheet (SDS) preparation. Responsibilities include completing hazard assessments of final and intermediate formulations, preparing hazard communication documentation, maintaining product information databases and confirming compliance with health and safety, transportation and waste requirements. Cross-functional interaction with IT, research and innovation, marketing and sales and operational facilities is essential.
Requirements
· 3+ years of hands-on experience with SAP Product Compliance/EHS SDS authoring, Hazardous Substance Master & Dangerous Goods Master
· Project management skills (effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, work independently, maintain project documentation, represent department in Product Compliance meetings)
· Ability to work collaboratively with global colleagues from multiple business areas.
· Experience using SAP Fiori apps
· Ability to use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to code macros in Microsoft Excel.
· Background in Chemistry, Engineering, Safety, Environmental or equivalent field.
· 5+ years experience in safety data sheet (SDS) authoring and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
· Oversee semi-annual regulatory updates (ERC) from content provider 3E into SAP Product Compliance.
· Update Microsoft Access database (MDB) files to ensure proper functioning of ruleset across all regions.
· Create custom rule conditions in SAP Conditions of Safety Statements (CoSSta) Rule Editor.
· Use SAP Open Content Connector (OCC) to load substance phyiso-chemical and toxicological data.
· Use Window Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) to modify SDS templates for use in SAP Product Compliance.
· Create and maintain work instructions for all activities related to SAP Product Compliance & SDS authoring.
· Maintain competencies in major GHS implementations (e.g. OSHA HCS 2024, WHMIS 2023, CLP).
· Assess, classify and author safety data sheets (SDS) using SAP Product Compliance.
· Review/gather substance toxicology/ecotoxicology information to confirm appropriate classification of mixtures.
· Enter hazard information into SAP based system to provide compliant labeling to research and operations facilities.
· Perform transportation reviews to ensure appropriate classification of hazard materials/dangerous goods.
· Maintain internal hazard database to communicate information to all internal areas of the company.
· Perform periodic audits to ensure hazard communication and transportation data accuracy and quality.
· Assist in review and update of SDS from contract and 3rd party manufacturers.
· Provide internal support concerning hazard assessments, transportation classification and waste management.
· Maintain knowledge of international chemical lists for populating regulatory information section of SDS.
· Maintain transportation (DOT, IATA, IMDG) and waste (RCRA) certifications.
